I just purchased this knife set. It is amazing! They are heavy, but sit comfortably in your hand. They are very sharp. The self-sharpening block is very sturdy and the knives glide into position with ease. The only downside is how large the block is. It takes up most of my counter.

I purchased this because I find the Henckels brand to be outstanding and the biggest selling point for me was the self-sharpening feature. While there are a lot of other brands out there to choose from, I always prefer this brand and always find them to be superior. I wanted to upgrade my knives and had a really tough time deciding on whether to go with the 20 piece or the smaller set. I ultimately decided on the 20 piece since I do a lot of cutting when I start canning and a really good set of knives is a must. Decided not to go by price but by what I would need. I am so glad I did, they came the next day and I cut up chicken and beef to put in the freezer and it was a breeze. They are so sharp it has been like cutting meat with a butter knife! Will definitely have to be extra careful! The block is huge compared to my old set and I had to move things around on the counter to accommodate it. The knives and the block have a sleek appearance and the knives are easy to hold and cut with. Would definitely recommend purchasing! I did warn my husband that he is NOT allowed to use the new knives for anything other than food related preparation! Contrary to his belief, they are NOT tools! lol ... show more

A nicely complete set. Every knife is literally sharp as a razor. Even though it hardly shows in the photos, the steak knives are serrated. The block is big and heavy.

This is a great knife set. The self-sharpening wood block holder is an excellent addition. This is our second Henckles knife set and the first one lasted us 20+ years, so overall they make a very good quality product. The knives themselves are a very high craftsmanship, and the handles are easy to hold, they are nice and balanced, and good and sturdy. My only complaint is that the wood block holder was absolutely filthy dirty inside each knife slot. It took me several times with compressed gas duster to clean out the compartments. And the amount of dust that was coming out was absurd. For the price and quality of this product you should not have to spend 30+ minutes cleaning the holder. They need to do a better job on that. ... show more

this is a WONDERFUL complete kitchen knife set. it has the added benefit of self sharpening storage slots that help maintain a sharp edge on them as well. the only caution i would have for would be buyers is that these are quite substantial knives with larger than typical handles. you can easily get used to their size but folks with smaller hands should take this into consideration. my wife thought they were kinda bulky at first but now is hard core in love with 'em. not only are these knives incredibly sharp but they hold their edge better than any other knives we've ever owned. and they look pretty cool on the countertop as well. ... show more
