Feels good and hoping it will replace a workhorse kitchen knife that was lost, but was on the verge of returning it, the packaging was so impenetrable! If there is any designated opening point it's totally hidden. Scissors and stronger hands than mind wrestled it free eventually.

I love this knife. This knife was included in my cutlery set that my husband gave to me as a gift many years ago. I gave my daughter a set last year for her renovated kitchen. Her's did not come with a knife as this. I am staying with her at this time and was helping cook. I kept looking for this knife, and of course kept forgetting she didn't have it. One night after dinner I thought, "Let me see if I can find this knife...", so I did, and I did! Now, at my daughters' I have the pleasure of using her knife just like mine. Great quality knife with a really good hand feel. It's a couple of inches shorter than your regular "chef knife" and longer than a paring knife. The grip feel is quite acceptable for a 6' man's hand, but perfect for my 5' something girlfriend, it feels like the diameter is just a few mm smaller than the chef knife size. She also loves using it for all the snack size jobs for the kids like cutting strawberries and apples, etc. I would pick the larger version if you wanted to bulk process a mirepoix all at once, but this was great for thin slicing rings off an onion. ... show more
