Features

  • This is a well-made and economical marking/cutting gauge. A wheel larking gauge is an indispensable tool used in the shop to lay out precision woodworking joinery. This tool has excellent mass and weighs in at 8.8 ounces.
  • The ergonomic brass head fits perfectly in the hand providing precise control. The knurled thumb screw is also solid brass and securely locks the head to the beam holding measurements. The head has a countersink so the cutter can be fully retracted protecting it when not in use.
  • The Laser Engraved Graduation Marks On The Bar Are Available In Both Metric And Imperial Versions Up To 6 Inch/150 mm.
  • The wheel cutter is 9/19 inch in diameter. The cutter can be easily resharpened by rubbing the flat surface on any sharpening media. Replacement cutters are also available.
  • The hardened steel beam is .315 inches in diameter and 8 inches long. The maximum cutting depth of the gauge is a full 7 inches. The beam has mm and SAE graduations.

  • Great compass!

Very precise! Would have been better if the holes for inserting a pencil were larger.

  • Very disappointing!!!
Color: Orange
Wheel style marking gauges have 2 big advantages over the traditional pin style. This tool totally fails on one and does a poor job on the other. You should be able to get a very fast and precise setting by placing the board on your bench, put the body of the tool on top of the board and lower the cutter to the bench (see picture). You can't do that with this gauge. The screw that holds the cutter in place does not match the countersink on the cutter, so the head sticks up. This prevents the cutter from sitting flush against a surface. (The picture on the listing shows the screw head sitting well below the surface - not even close to the condition of the tool they are shipping) The other thing a wheel gauge does well is cutting the wood fibers to prevent splintering when you are making the final cut. The wheel is too dull to cut and just puts a dent in the wood. Mine also had rust spots on it straight out of the box. The body of the tool and the rod seem to be well constructed, but it's basically useless with the cutter setup. There are so many better options out there - don't waste your money on this one! ... show more

  • Very nice, accurate marking gauge
Color: Orange
I'm really impressed with this marking gauge. In case it's not clear from the listing, the knurled brass mechanism at the base of the red marking head allows for incredibly precise fine tuning. I compared the measurements to my Starrett combination square, and these are just as accurate. The lever is how you lock it, I do wish that mechanism were a little more robust for my big fingers. It scribes a very precise line. My only issue with it is that the 'fence' is quite wide. It would be nice if I didn't have to have the stock at the edge of the workbench to scribe a line in order to have clearance for it. However, in fairness, this is a problem with most marking gauges. It also feels a little top heavy. It lacks the refinement of the Lie-Nielsen marking gauge for example, but that does cost $100 more. All in all, this is a great product and I'm very happy to add it to the 'too chest.' ... show more
