For over a year I have been using the Lincoln white marking pen. The problem was the line was too wide and the white ink often did flow from the tip. The welder's pencils work much better than the Lincoln pen. The line is crisp and thin and easy to see on most metals. However, the red or silver does not mark smooth metals well. The pencil line is hard to see and barely leaves a trace of a colored line. I tend to go back to a sharp scribe in the rare case the pencil does not leave a line. The mechanical pencil works as advertised, the lead or filler material is hard enough to use on rough material without wearing down the filler material too quickly. In you do not work with a lot of smooth, shiny metals these pencils are a good value. ... show more

The price was okay and I like the two different colors. I was given enough replacement of each colors, but plastic on each pencil broke where the tip screwa on after dropping twice. I liked them while they were in one piece

    • Rattled themselves to pieces in my tool pouch

I bought these in Aug 2023. By June of 2024, they fell to pieces just riding around in my tool pouch. The blue one's top parts literally fell off in a closet I was working in during a job (I wasn't actually using the pencil at the time). A month later, the red one did the same thing. Obviously, not very well constructed and certainly can't take the bouncing around on a tool belt that occurs with professional contractors every day. Replaced with Pica and it's awesome!
