I have only actually used this product to scribe a deep mark to prevent tear out while making finger joint boxes. But it is well made and handy to have sure I’ll use it on many more projects for years to come.

Great gage and I would buy again. I will say, I was trying to mark a hardwood and the line was hard to see, but it did mark it and I was able to make an accurate dowel pin hole. Also, there is a scale in both metric and standard on the shaft that's a little hard to see unless you tilt it the right way. I mainly use this as a comparative tool so these measurements don't necessarily need to be seen and the gage worked fine. Overall, great tool for a great price. ... show more

It came with a bit of rust on one of the cutters, and the gold round plate glue failed so it moving all over the place. *** Update: the seller reached out to me and offered a full refund. Since I am using it, I rejected his offer, but that shows me that the seller really cares about his customers, so updating to 5 stars for that. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Not a great tool for fit or finish 1. The shoulder bushing and the sleeve were not joined together. There was evidence of very small amount of somekind of adhesive. Probably CA glue and CA is not the proper adhesive for metal parts. 2. The markings on the rod are virtually non existent. Not like the pic in on the amz listing. 3. The 3 included carbide cutters are not really sharp at all. Might as well just toss them. The only good thing I can say is it seems pretty accurate. But it was really really hard to set it to 1" by using the markings on the rod. I got as close as I could but it took 4 or 5 times to feel confident that I was on the correct mark. My advice is to pass on this one. I am going to return and try another. ... show more

This does everything that was promised. Well made, all the accessories were included. I would purchase other products from this vendor. Great value for the money.

    • poor machining, tool fails in multiple ways; good customer service though. You'll need it.
The cutters were very blunt and needed LOTS of filing. Never became sharp due to shape of the very tarnished 'cutting' wheel. The brass guide came off the black part that holds the locking screw. I had to flatten both sides and epoxy them together. Worst of all, the screw slides down the shaft of the tool making the whole thing useless. I tried to file the screw bottom flat so it would stay in place, but that did not work. Also, I had to flatten the face of the brass guide to be flat and perpendicular to the rod. I contact Mr. Pen. They were kind and sent me a second gauge for free. The second one had the same problems and more. The screw to hold the cutting wheel was seized in place and required significant work to get it loose. I plan on keeping these as a reminder to spend more money on tools in the future ... show more

    • VERY Hard to read and not accurate
The white numbers on silver stem make this thing nearly impossible to read. Combined with the highly inaccurate scale makes this a poor buy. I know when setting this there may be a little parallelax error but I set this at 1" and it was not even close. I scribed a line at 1" using a known accurate metal ruler and set this gauge against it and it was at 1¼ on the provided scale, horrendous accuracy that a small parallelax error can account for. ... show more
