I really dont care if it only lasts a year. Who cares? For the price I can buy a new one every year. I realize it is not a fantastic gourmet kitchen appliance. I already have those with many drawbacks. I have the DeLonghi which gives a fantastic performance. heats up so quickly, sears and cooks steak to perfection in no time at all. However I dont have a large family anymore. There are no options to just heat up one side of the grill for a grilled cheese or one burger which is a big deal to me because it turns my kitchen into an inferno for days. Way too much heat for a burger. Fine for chateaubriand. I have a Ronco Rotisserie. great performance but bulky, takes up a lot of real estate and also the heat problem. I have the Todd English ceramic grill. It is lightweight but also to cook one item you have to heat up the whole grill and deal with the heat. I see many complaints about drip pans. I hardly ever empty or clean my drip pans. What the devil are people putting on these indoor grills that they need gigantic drip pans? I have a George Forman indoor / outdoor. It takes forever to get hot and forever to cook. Not a fan. This one allows me to cook two steaks on one side of the grill and not have the entire grill blazing. I got nice grill marks. I have found that grills are mostly good and cook really well. What I have also found is they may be very good but they can be really hard to live with because of the heat, the bulk and the maintenance. I no longer use the DeLonghi, the best, because it is so difficult to clean. Too much. The TE was looking good for a while but even with ceramic cleaner and special sponges, its not coming clean anymore and I can't stand it. I was looking to the HB Searing grill but sacrificed the sear for the easier cleanup and just grilled two big fat boneless chicken breasts on one side that were done in no time at all, crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The Winner and New Champion.....Don't overlook Hamilton Beach for sexier brands. This does not turn my house into an inferno. Are the clips a little tricky? Yes. But the plates are really nice and pop right into the dishwasher. For under $50, this is a no brainer. I also have the HB pannini grill which I highly recommend. This tabletop electric grill is so easy to use, and works perfect. I have been using it just about every other day and it cooks perfectly! I was thinking about another more expensive grill like this one, but I am glad I purchased this one.(Lower cost and works great)

Purchased this to replace our current electric griddle, which was on its way out. This one works perfectly for what we need. It's small enough for just doing a quick breakfast. But it's also large enough that it can make a full breakfast on it. I do like the fact that it has interchangeable. Griddle plates, which allows you to use the smooth side for eggs or French toast, or even doing a quick quesadilla. The raised griddle plates. A great for getting a little grill marks on like burgers or a small steak. Extremely easy to clean up. I really like the fact that the griddle plates can be placed in dishwasher for easy clean up. However, I prefer to do mine by hand just because we use it pretty much every morning. Initially we did have some issues with it. Sticking at first, however, that's easily remedied by making sure that the grill plates are up to temperature. Before you place your food on it and also using just a little tiny bit of either non stick, spray or vegetable oil or you know all of oil. Any kind of a lubricant? And you don't need very much just tincy. Bits spread on the grill plates easily stops the sticking. Found clean up to be extremely easy. The only downside on it for cleanup I. Would say is when you take the griddle. Plates off with a drip tray? Goes, the portion of the base plate with drippings go into is extremely sharp. I've sliced my hand when I was trying to clean. That portion of it a little bit, not badly, but just something to be aware of that. It is sharp so be very cautious when you're cleaning off the drip. Trasection of the base plate other than that. It's a great little griddle, perfect for small family or just 1 or 2 people. We've done burgers on it and they came out beautifully. Done a stake on it and it came out great as well. I like the fact that when you use the raised griddle. Plates leaves those little grill marks on there. Similar to if you were doing it out on an outdoor grill. Highly recommend only giving 4 stars because of that little safety concern with the clean up, but other than that. It's, it's a great little grill. ... show more

I bought this for my mother as a Christmas gift. She loves it, it cleans exceptionally well, and she uses it to cook her and my little brother breakfast every morning. It's less cliché than a blender. It looks, feels, and behaves very professionally made. Everything a good appliance gift should be: Well priced, reliable, and maintenance free. It cleans well in the dishwasher, it cleans well in the sink. She cleans it occasionally that way to sanitise it. I just went over to it and rubbed my finger across it to get a better idea for the review. I can't even tell bacon was cooked there save for the faint smell, and she only wiped it with a dry paper towel this past week. The nonstick is serious business. Being what it is, it heats a fair amount quicker than a typical stove burner. It also has the advantage of weighing a little less and being able to fit in your car. The only complaint I have had in a half year of usage is that it has no off setting. It goes down to a minimum heat, and then you unplug it. Granted, if you follow the directions, everything you buy tells you to unplug it anyways, because, of course, companies hate liability. I foolishly paid an extra few bucks for a warranty. (Totally kidding, warranties are always good to have even if you trust the manufacturer) ... show more
