  • Slowly Going Bad - Sort of meets my needs with a slight caveat(s)
UPDATE 06-24-2023 This fan is consistently getting worse. It is in operation 24/7. It is hot here. I mostly use Auto set for 70F to 80F. My issue with the caveat explained in my original review is now permanent, regardless of where it is placed and removing the back access panel has no affect. On speed 7 and 8, the fan chokes. The air will feel like it is getting clogged, slow down, then speed up. This process also creates a significant wobble. If it is the only fan running, I can easily hear the slow down and speed up of the fan and is very distracting. It is NOT on Nature. I can NOT recommend this fan. I would NOT buy again. UPDATE 06-22-2023 My fan just started making the electrical hum at low speeds. It starts at level 5 all the way down to level 1. The noise is significant, especially at lower speeds. It is not vibrating on the floor because I picked it up, held it and then just felt to see if it was vibrating on the floor, it was not. I took another star off for this fault. I post this review at 3 stars now. Another oddity regarding the app. Everything was working correctly in the app since I received the fan and setup the app. Then, almost at the same time as the electrical noise, the app needed to download resources for the fan. I was not home, thought nothing of it, and attempted to download the resources. The resources would not download on wifi or 3 bars of 5g (android 13 phone). I attempted when I got home, and it did work (same network as fan). It almost seemed like I had to be connected on Bluetooth to get the resources for the app. If that is the case, that is bad programming for an update, if that is what the resource was. ORIGINAL REVIEW This fan is quiet and moves a decent amount of air. In pure air movement, it will not be able to compete with a box or circular fan. However, it has a much smaller size and is much quieter than the other two types of fans. At level 5, I can start to feel the air move at 10 feet away. At this level, I know a fan is on, but is not overbearing and I can have discussions without talking louder. I briefly had a similar Dre0 brushless tower fan. Each moved a very similar amount of air with about the same amount of noise. These are my subjective measurements using my skin and ears. I do not hear any odd noises from the fan at low speeds, mechanical or electrical. The price is great for the features, which is why I kept the fan despite the issue outlined below. I do like the fan. However, there is one problem that I have and has been described in other reviews. I have my fan next to a wall, the base of the fan touches the baseboard. In this position, the fan will get "clogged" when on level 8 (I have not experimented with the other levels). This means that the air movement gets slowed down to the point where there is very little air coming out of the fan in about 2" of the tower. The other sections are not affected. Eventually it will correct itself and return to normal. This is a repeating process that can be fairly annoying. Customer service was quick to respond to email regarding this issue. However, there is a placement restriction on this tower fan of at least 20" (50cm) per customer service. I read in some other places of the web that this is common to have at least 8" from any large obstruction, which is mostly covered by the base of this fan. I did move the fan to the middle of my hallway and the frequency of the issue dropped drastically. However, in my particular situation, this does not work because I have a narrow hallway I want to have the fan in. My solution was to pop off the rear access cleaning panel (top red arrow) and moved it down (lower blue arrow) and hold it in place with a rubber band. Yes, this does expose the moving blades, but I do not have any living beings in my home that will injure themselves with the blades being exposed. I did not want to have to do this, but I like the fans other characteristics. For the good. I like the app for Android, despite the ads for their products. There is no remote, but I have never used a fan remote. I do not even use the remotes for the AC units I have. This fan connects via Bluetooth and WiFi. It connects to Bluetooth first upon initial setup so it can connect the fan to your WiFi easier (this process eliminates the need to connect to a device in the devices WiFi Settings and then connect back to your own WiFi). I can control the fan and see the temperature the fan records when I am not at home. It does take a few seconds to connect to the device, but that is like a lot of other Govee products. I does connect successfully all the time in my experience. I like that all my Govee devices are in one app and are all, even this tower fan, Google compliant. My network is a combined 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz. There were no issues finding or connecting to my network. There really is no need for this device to have 5Ghz in my opinion. The oscillation is suitable for me. It is only 80 degrees, but it works for me. The other fan I briefly had was 120 degrees. I had no issues assembling it, but I am no stranger to assembling and even deciphering instructions. It took about 5 minutes to unpackage and assemble. 1 minute to install the app. 3 minutes to connect to the fan and control it. It was slightly easier to setup than the Kasa line of devices. It is stable and not easy to know over. I have rambunctious cat that love to parkour down the hall the fan is in. It has not fallen over. There is a very slight wobble at high speeds, but I have to specifically look for it and stare at the fan to notice it. The temperature seems to be accurate to plus/minus 1 degree, as compared to and environmental thermometer. The auto function is a nice feature (other fans have this function too). I like to be able to set the speed at which the fan operates at a specific range of temperature. There was nothing else to buy to get this to work. It all comes with the fan and is built in. I have not used natural or sleep modes. I have not used the diffuser, nor do I plan to. [EDIT] I would NOT buy again. ... show more

  • It blows
As a fan, the air output is more than enough and has 8 levels. I didn't want another remote control in the pile so an app on my phone is great. About the app though. Yes, it has a very rich set of features and configuration settings that I don't use, you might. I don't like it's bugging me to turn on notifications and as constantly pushing GOVEE ads. I also have a couple GOVEE heaters already so I picked this fan for that reason. On the iPhone app store I looked at the "Data Linked to You" and remembered it's a Chinese company while reading the collected data includes "Health and Fitness", "User Content", Contact Info", and "Identities". I thought to myself "why?". I be sure to FULLY close it every time. It's not as bad as TIK TOC but I'm a privacy nut. Solution is to block outbound internet traffic to/from the country in my router configuration. I would explain the nut and bolts of that, but it's outside the purpose of a product review, but I'm there are lots of people that know how. I don't want to get political or parinoid, but anything China gets my attention. Hint: ASUS router that supports Merlin firmware using Entware Skynet Firewall with added whole country rulesets. ... show more

  • It wobbles like crazy
I love the fan. It works great for what I’m using it for…a closet grow room tent. It syncs with the govee hygrometer which is nice. If only the hygrometer was anywhere close to accurate it would be perfect. I’ve had to just leave it on in stead of using it’s smart functions. Having said that, that fan blows very hard at top speed and cool air. I do recommend this product even though it wobbles a bit. I can’t believe I haven’t seen that in a review. I definitely have everything out together right. It’s like 3 pieces total and a few screws. Pretty hard to mess up The problem is simple. The base is skinny as a toothpick! Stupid design. Great concept that still works pretty good. I still recommend it. ... show more
