I just got my Gotrax Ultra 500w. It is amazing. First off assembly was real simple. It charged for the first time a lot quicker than they said it would. I have seen reviews that said there was no key. Well the December 2023 model came with two keys. If you are like me and have never ridden a motorcycle or a power scooter let me first say this takes a bit of getting used to. It has two speeds, gears, and it is quick. I definitely recommend a helmet. It is built like a tank! Build quality is superb! If you are worried about going up hills like other scooters in reviews here, put your fears aside. Unless you weigh a lot this thing goes up hills like nobodies business! Outside of my complex is a pretty steep hill, not sure what the grade is but if you walk it you lean into it. This thing went up it and actually GAINED speed. Today I rode it for ten miles. The display has five bars when fully charged and at the end of the ride there was still four left. So I can easily believe that it would go at least 20 miles on a charge. As for speed. Like I said I am new to this but I have got it up to 18 mph and there was power to spare. So I am certain that it can do the 25 that the company advertises. The display is nice. It will tell you speed in mph/kph, distance traveled, what "gear" you are in and batter consumption. You do have to adjust the angle of it so you can read it clearly. The basket is nice. No, you are not going to get a week's worth of groceries in it... but it is not designed for that. I honestly do not see how this is not best in class as far as seated scooters go. If you are looking at buying one go for the ULTRA at 500 w motor. It is about a hundred dollars more but well worth it. Like I said this is the first one I have owned but I can't imagine any other companies being better. Especially at this price point. Oh, the ride is very good. Duel shock absorbers really do this trick. I bought a nice green reflective triangle for mine and it hangs off the basket for added safety. It is a nice touch. Well that's about it. If you are thinking of buying an electric scooter, don't hesitate, I truly believe this is the one to have. ... show more

These are my initial impressions of the Gotrax FLEX Electric Scooter -- 400W Motor. I purchased this to replace my vehicle for all the 1-3 mile trips I make. I also wanted to get something fun. I haven't ridden a bike since I was a teenager (it's been decades) so I decided I wanted something cheap. This was $300 + tax after discounts and Amazon rewards. For that price, it was a no-brainer. Assembly was pretty easy and the battery didn't take long to charge since it was partially pre-charged from the factory. My initial test ride I was a bit wobbly. I'm generally pretty bad with balance, so your mileage may vary. Once I got used to it, riding was a breeze. I haven't measured speed yet, but I suspect it goes as fast as advertised. Range? No clue yet. will update if it is notably different. I rode around the neighborhood and to the grocery store, a good 40 minutes of riding before I had to come back home for unrelated reasons. It did great. As far as power to go up hills, I am a 6' tall man that weighs 200lbs. I live in a really hilly area. It could tackle most hills just fine. It does slow down. There are two really steep hills it couldn't go up. I may include a picture of these hills later, but they are really up there, so that isn't surprising. You can always push yourself up by using it like a regular scooter. Overall I'm pretty satisfied. After all, this is a $300-$350 scooter! It includes a phone mount and a basket. The basket can hold up to 39.6lbs of stuff. The only drawback that I've noticed so far is that it is not water proof. The manually very clearly warns you of this and says that riding in water/wet weather could make the tires slip, causing an accident and will void the warranty. The handle can be folded so it can be stored easily. It also is not all that heavy, though it is heavier than a bicycle. I am able to carry it into my house without assistance. Assembly took probably about a half an hour. It is easy to assemble, the phone mount was the only thing that consumed a bunch of time. If you are looking for a good entry level scooter or e-bike, this is the one to get. It is cheap, fun to ride, and doesn't take long to learn. 4/5. ... show more
