  • READ YOUR INSTRUCTIONS, PEOPLE!
Color: Red
Read this before your write a bad review and embarrass yourself: Most the bad reviews I'm reading about these knives are written by people who rather don't know knives, don't understand Damascus steel protocol or think the instructions are completely ignored. These are not written out of boredom. Damascus steel is made from carbon steel wires grouped together and hammered out. These are NOT stainless steel and require maintenance and care. I have read several hitching about the outcome of putting in a dishwasher. You don't put ANY cutting knife in a dishwasher unless you like washing money. Stainless steel is just that. This is DAMASCUS steel, which means they musk be kept clean, dried and coated with edible oil, vegetable or olive.... If you get them wet longer than it takes to clean and dry them, THEY WILL RUST!!!!!! That's what carbon steel does. Stainless was made for convenience. Julia Child hated stainless steel. They have to be oiled after every wash. They need to be sharpened occasionally. Never in the dishwasher. These knives, people are handmade. Hand hammered. When you were planning your order, there WERE instructions in the description in bold letters telling you not to leave wet, not dishwasher safe and require maintenance. People complaining that they rusted really sound doltish. A children's, we learned to always follow the instructions. News flash: we still have to do that as big people! I'd like to close with this: ... show more

  • Beautiful! Well Made. Giftable.
Color: Red
My son in law and my husband are knife collectors, that especially love Damascus. My husband, my son in law and our daughter are also hunters. So we wanted to get them this for field dressing in the future but also for them to choose one to cut their wedding cake because they wanted a unique damascus knife for the occasion. Since they had antlers in their flowers we thought this would be a nice touch. They rolled this set out on the wedding cake table. It looked beautiful and classy. The leather is nicely tooled and the tailored with care so it really added to the setting. All of their guests, including the ones that are knife collectors and hunters complimented how nice they are. That being said, several people cut a finger. They’re REALLY SHARP. They arrived really fast. They came in a thin, plain, regular box that worried us at first but when we pulled it out we were impressed. The knives were individually wrapped in plastic and - again - VERY SHARP! OUCH! We bought them in the summer but I waited to do this review because I wanted them to use them a few times first. They’ve used them in the kitchen, at the bbq and most importantly in the field. She said they love them because not only do they look nice but are good quality. This kit is their go to for knife set for most of their knife needs so they’re pleased to be able to hang them on a hook in the kitchen or in the truck, and it’s easy to wear when hiking, camping and hunting. I’d recommend them for yourself or for an affordable but impressive gift for a knife collector or hunter. ... show more

  • Beautiful knife set and leather pouch
Color: Red
The description should say to oil directly after use and high maintenance products. They rust very quickly, this is not a knife you can use and leave in the sink or sit ther to wait until after your done cooking. Very high carbon steel knives so clean very well and hand dry and oil immediately. Do not let air dry because water droplets will rust the knife before they dry. I only use them on special occasions or when hosting large gatherings for display, not an every day knife set ... show more

  • Surprised at the quality
Color: Red
These things are RAZOR SHARP! I don’t recommend them on flimsy cutting boards! I bought these on a whim, just to see if the quality was as good as what I had read. My wife threw out her stainless steel junk after her 3 week trial. Her exact words,…”No More Stainless in my Kitchen “!

  • These knives are not worth the money.
Color: Red
At the price point of these knives, I was not expecting Master Chief quality, but there are certain minimum standards that still need to be meet. 1) Clean cutting edge with a constant sharping angle. 2) Spine thickness (Needs to be thick enough to avoid the metal from twisting or bending) 3) Weight 4) Comfort in hand While the pattern is constant across the knifes, the black etching is not. Goes from grey to black and no two knives match even closely. I will state that this could be due to the patterning in the metal and the way I see colors, but ... The biggest complaint is the knife's cutting edge. The angle that they were sharpened at is inconstant and at some spots the edge is blunt. Also, some of the knives have divots in the edge where too much material was taken away and there is a negative void in the cut of the knife cutting line. 1) Sharping angle: Goes from 30 degree to 0 with no constancy between point and heel of the blade. 2) Some of the knife’s edges have had too much grinded away to create a negative void in the knife’s cut. 3) Some knives still have a burr on their points 4) The knives look they are punched from a sheet and then sharpened. 5) The spine is too thin, which would allow the knife to flex too much. 6) Pairing size knives are a good weight, but large chief and Chopper are under weight. (personal option) This last point is focused on if and how well a knife can cut. Not even one of these knives could pass a simple paper cut test. While this test does not indicate how sharp a knife is, but it does test if the thing can cut and cut constantly and evenly. These failed across the board. Pros: Came nicely packages and the blades were heavily oils (aka no rust) Handles are awesome and love the three-contrasting wood they are made of. Handle size is also perfect for me (medium size hands - male), but large hands would have issues, since the pinkie and ring fingers would hang over butt. Brass Rivets are done neatly and each handle has enough to ensure the handle does not come loose. ... show more
