This is a great hose reel. We wanted something small and not too ugly. I didn’t know how it would work with the handle so close to the ground, but the handle is really easy to turn and I have no issues with that at all. It is metal, so it does get a little bit hot in the sun, but most of the time I am wearing gardening gloves so if I rest my hand on it while winding the hose, that is not a problem. Wow! I just put this baby out and am super excited! QUALITY!!! you get what you pay for. This cranks so easily and it evenly distributes the hose on the reel like a charm. I don't forsee it blowing away. It has a great weight to it. I just worry it will get stolen, because it is so nice!

    • Giraffe Tools Hose Container: Defective Junk and Shameful Warranty Service

Let me start by saying that my experience with Giraffe Tools hose container has been nothing short of a nightmare. From the defective product to the abysmal warranty service, this company has managed to disappoint at every turn. Upon receiving the hose container, I was initially impressed by its design and promised functionality. However, my optimism quickly turned to frustration when I discovered that the unit was defective. The reel mechanism was jammed, rendering the entire container useless. The belt would fall off the spline while rotating, the spline wasn’t fastened to shaft. In my attempt to resolve the issue, I reached out to Giraffe Tools customer service. After explaining the problem and providing a video showcasing the malfunction, their response was shockingly inadequate. Instead of acknowledging the defect and offering a prompt solution, they suggested sending me a replacement belt. A replacement belt for a jammed reel? Are they serious? When I insisted that a belt would not fix the underlying issue, they backtracked and said they would need to send a screw from China for me to fix it myself. Yes, you read that right. They expected me to wait for an international shipment of a single screw to repair their shoddy product and do a tear down of the unit. Frustrated by their incompetence, I turned to Amazon for assistance. To my relief, Amazon promptly resolved the issue and provided me with a satisfactory solution. Their customer service was efficient, understanding, and focused on resolving the problem, unlike Giraffe Tools. What's even more disappointing is that Giraffe Tools boasts a two-year warranty for their products. However, when it came time to honor that warranty and replace the defective unit, they failed miserably. A warranty is only as good as the company's willingness to stand behind its products, and Giraffe Tools fell short in this regard. In conclusion, I cannot in good conscience recommend Giraffe Tools hose container or any of their products.Their lackluster quality control, dismissive customer service, and failure to honor warranty commitments are clear indicators of a company that prioritizes profits over customer satisfaction. Looks good on the outside. Easy to assemble. Interior parts are all plastic and do not seem like they will last long under frequent use. After a few months of use and outdoor storage the paint is severely faded. One of the screws holding the top door fell out easily and was lost. Spooling mechanism is finicky and really touchy. I have finally gotten it to work fairly reliably but it requires opening the top hatch and making some manual adjustments as you spool it to ensure it doesn't get hung or bunch up. It will also not store as much hose as advertised. With max amount listed it jams the spooling mechanism. Overall disappointed given the price and would not buy again. ... show more

Bought this product on Black Friday. I chose this sturdy metal product over the flimsy plastic products offered by their competition. When the product arrived, I noticed it was defective across the top. The metal was bent outwards which prevented the top from closing fully. I guess their quality control just missed it. I was now dreading the thought of having to repackage this heavy item and sending it back. I emailed their customer service department of the defective product on a Friday along with a picture. Within 36 hours by Sunday night, I was informed a replacement would be sent to me. Several days later I got a tracking number and the package arrived at my door. The best part was that I could keep the defective unit without having to deal with the hassle of a typical return. The unit itself performed as expected. The metal parts make it feel durable and the heavier weight helps keep the unit in place as I drag the hose. No water leaks thus far. It was definitely worth the higher price to buy a superior product and have such superior customer service. ... show more
