I purchased 2 of the 45 lb plates over a year ago and just ordered two more. With some of the less expensive (non calibrated) plates the weight can vary significantly. I put all 4 of mine on a digital scale and they were all exactly 45.2 pounds which is great for the price. The smell wears off fast and is to be expected. I had ordered several different easy grip rubber covered Olympic weights. I encountered a problem with the rubber material and I was satisfied with the solution that was taken care of quickly. The weight plates had a slight smell from manufacturing process but I wiped each plate off with Windex and the smell was gone in 2 or 3 days. Shipping was done in nice boxes and each plate was wrapped in a good grade plastic bag. I believe this company does care about it's product and tries to ship these heavy weights as best as possible. The ability to grip the weights is a plus, especially if you want to use them for exercises without the barbell. As others mentioned, you will probably have to wipe down the weights. The rubbery smell eventually goes away. The rubber is more compatible with tile floor. Great weights.

These plates are really nicely made. Super smooth, and the grips are solid. Almost no mold oil, very light odor. They have a great fit on the bar, with almost no wiggle at all. That fit allows a smooth transition on and off the bar, but also keeps them snug and prevents the wiggle that causes sliding and movement if you don't use consistently use collars. These weights fit my barbell nicely and are very comfortable in the hand but I wish I had bought one with either two or four hand holds for using without the bar. Also smell badly like cigarette smoke though whether this is something about the rubber or they were stored in a smokers lounge I don't know - hopefully it will go away. The weights are high quality. Complaints about the smell are valid, but it’s brand new rubber. What do you expect? It should fade with time. Anyways, I’m writing this review because I had an issue with my shipment, and was happy with the resolution. There was apparently a problem with the original shipment, and it didn’t arrive when it said it would. The seller shipped another set of weights instead. Those arrived shortly after. However, the shipping company must have finally found the original shipment, because then I received a 2nd package with double my order. When it was all said and done, the seller agreed to let me simply keep the extra package for free, rather than making me go through the inconvenience of returning a 90lb package on my own.
