Outstanding value and performance. I learned how to use it in the field and was proficient in a few hours hitting targets and identifying what was ferrous or non ferrous. Actually purchased this for an evidence search as part of a criminal investigation. It worked flawlessly on detecting buried ferrous objects even 4-6” deep. It takes some getting used to with the sounds and the digital display and the sensitivity. But once you figure that out, it’s amazingly versatile across different terrain. Keep the sensitivity very high when you have to be further away from the ground due to brush or debris, then reduce the sensitivity when you get a signal to confirm and narrow in on your object. Do some light digging and reassess using the most discriminatory sensitivity and you’ll find what was detected. Few tips: 1) get the forearm band sold separately to alleviate fatigue if used for long periods or difficult terrain 2) get better headphones to decrease background noise 3) adjust the height a little bit shorter than you might think to avoid using your arm and back muscles to keep the detector off the ground. ... show more

The detector could use a pinpoint function so i would suggest you also order a handheld pinpointer ! but other than that its been working good

    • This worked GREAT not enough time spent to fine tune it for me
If it were summer and I was walking around the woods or other leisure searching this would be great. Bought it for the wrong reason and did not have time to get to use it for real searching. It is sensitive and found more than I needed, sensory overload. That's why I say get to use it more it did get me to find a lot of nails from a former contractor around the edge of my house. Who looks for that stuff after working all day and who throws nails around the edge of your house...this guy did. Great beginner not sure for the folks that use upper cost detectors. Wow, this metal detector is great and can find very small items. I was very impressed that it could find something as small as a pin. I am new to the hobby and bought this detector, a digging tool, brass probe, and inexpensive pin pointing detector (the Garrett pin pointer was a bit expensive for this beginner). I am so glad that I bought the pinpoint detector to go with the detector. I would not have been able to recover half of my targets, being so small, without the pin pointer to assist finding them after the initial location detection from the detector. That would be my advice to any beginner: Buy a pin pointer and watch a few you tube videos for some techniques to use it. So far, so good. Having fun with it. ... show more

    • Problem with the extension
I had a problem with the extension so I called the company and asked for a manual and a replacement part. I received the manual but not the replacement part. I finally got the extension to release so I could complete the assembly. The unit seems to work ok.

    • User Friendly Metal Detector big hit with Eight year old!
Got this for my eight year old son for Christmas. It was easy to assemble and set up and he was put with on Christmas Day! So many cool features and he has taken to taking it out in the yard by himself. Looking forward to the spring thaw for even better hunting!

Still learning how to use it but it did pass a few test runs on known targets at different depths. Glad I chose to spend the extra money to get the brand vs a cheaper one and can’t wait to hit a beach some where
