    • A few issues with temperature control but a great dehydrator for the price

The temperature control doesn't let you go up and down one degree at a time. It has pre-set increments ranging from 5 to 10 degrees. For example, I wanted to do a batch of jerky and had to pick from degrees of temperature split evenly on either side of the one listed in my book by about 5 degrees. I tested the temperature with a thermometer placed in an empty stack of the trays and ended up deciding on going a little less on the temperature for the process. But, I don't know if that will be the case from unit to unit so I would highly suggest testing the temperature on your particular unit prior to first use. You will also need to rearrange the trays a few times over the course of your drying project for even dehydration. And, never ever leave the unit fully unattended! (like when you go to work or while you are sleeping) Additional things to think about: The trays are very light weight and I am afraid they will crack if I actually wash them in the dishwasher despite the fact the company says you can do so. Make sure you wash the trays and stack them in such a way that they can air out for a couple of days prior to first use or your first batch of dried items will taste like plastic. (Wipe the base unit out with a slightly damp kitchen towel as well.) Also, be aware that finding exact match silicone liners for this puppy is probably not going to happen. It is best to buy ones designed for the purpose that are oversized and cut them down (don't buy hobby store plastic that isn't BPA free!). Some people use waxed paper for this purpose which will save you money but can alter the flavor of the food so I wouldn't do it personally. Make sure you use the liners for anything at all juicy so things don't drip down into the base and fry your unit. (Home made "sun dried tomatoes" are a good example of this.) ... show more

I love this specific model of dehydrator because I don’t have to reset it every 24-48 hours. It has a physical on off button and it doesn’t turn off unless the power is disconnected or you press the button. I know prettymuch every other model has the shutoff timer for fire safety but I’m very forgetful and would ruin my projects by forgetting to turn it back on. I have just bought my third one, but I mostly just need trays instead of extra dehydrator bases because what I’m making requires a certain amount of air drying and then a certain amount of time in the dehydrator so it would be awesome to have more trays to swap out because they stack so nicely together. My first dehydrator is superrrrrr quiet, you can hardly hear it, but the second one is a lot louder and I work a job that requires me to be on calls all day so I have to turn the second one off while I’m working. They’re both from the same seller so I’m not sure why the noise is so different. The third one should arrive on Saturday so we’ll see how that goes. But yeah mostly I just wish I could get extra trays but this thing is awesome. I don’t honestly think it would be a good idea for meat though, but that’s just my opinion. I don’t think it gets hot enough. But I don’t use mine for food I use it for drying art supplies, I have dehydrated food in the past though so I somewhat know what to look for. ... show more

    • Good Dehydrator - Useless Instruction Manual

Works really well once you figure a few things out. The instruction manual is poorly written and difficult to follow. Some information is not referenced at all like the fact that if you rotate the trays they stack with more space between them. Manual says it has a 1 year warranty and 2 year warranty, which is it? It gives no contact info if you need to exercise the warranty. The trouble shooting guide is sheer comedy. I am happy with the machine itself. This is a great dehydrator The only reason I gave it a 3 is because it does not last very long I'm on my 5th one always keep a spare God forbid my dogs go without their jerky Can't seem to find how to get hold of the company cause supposedly it comes with a one year warranty but To no Avail so I just keep stupidly buying another one Because I'm sure they're all the same At least I always have the same trays to just put on the machine In case it goes bad While they are dehydrating ... show more
