Features

  • Aquarium heater with dual temperature sensors provide accurate and real-time water temperatures
  • LCD temperature display available in both Fahrenheit and Celsius; with a range of 68 to 93 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Fast heat technology built with a safety shut-off and integrated fish guard to protect fish and invertebrates
  • Equipped with a slim profile mounting bracket and colored display alert system

Description

The Fluval E Heaters continuously monitor and display aquarium water temperature, ensuring the well-being of your aquarium inhabitants. The E Series features VueTech technology. With the easy to use adjustment lever, the temperature can be precisely set in 0.5° increments. Its LCD display delivers peace of mind by continuously showing real time water temperatures. During normal operation, the temperature readout will change color if the water varies +/-2 degrees F or more from the pre-set temperature. If any external heat sources or other equipment, such as chillers, cause the aquarium water temperature to rise or fall beyond 5.5 °F, the colored screen will flash, indicating a potential risk. The ability to measure temperature in Celsius is also an option. The integrated fish guard offers advanced protection. Fish and invertebrates cannot come into direct contact with the heater core. The glass sleeve is also protected against shocks from large fish species. Built with a secure slim profile mounting bracket, it can be adjusted or removed without removing the mounting bracket. For those with a marine aquarium and sump, you can also attach the Fluval E heater there.WARNING: The heater must never be operated outside of the aquarium. If the water level falls below the minimum water level MIN, the thermostat can no longer "read” the water temperature and therefore can no longer control the heating correctly. If it has to be taken out of the water or when transferring or changing the water, disconnect the heater from the power source and wait for at least 30 minutes to allow it to cool down. • Works great with a few tips.
Style: E100
I generally don't leave reviews for products, even ones I love, but I wanted to clear up an issue people were having with this heater in comparison to others. The temperature indication is spot on, very accurate. The design is sleek and well constructed. The issue I was having with this unit was not being able to maintain tank temperature in a very cold room, even though I oversized the wattage/gallons ratio by over double the recommended specifications. I believe the shrouding around the glass mildly hinders heat distribution so it is important that this unit gets adequate flow from the filter. I placed the heater directly under my filter return but still randomly had scenarios where the temperature dropped and stayed in the blue, even for a couple days. Then it would rise to green and maintain no problem. What I realized over time was whenever I did water changes or added water, the temperature dropped that night, even if the water added was warmer than the tank water. As the water level dropped over the next few days from evaporation, the temperature rose back up to normal. My hypothesis: If the water level in the tank is a hair too high, there is less disturbance created from the filter return, even though you are still achieving the same turnover rate. Try either lowering the water level in half inch increments until the temperature is able to maintain, or try rotating the heater sideways to achieve more flow through the shrouding. I recommend the first option because turning the heater sideways looks ridiculous with the digital display. I now maintain 77-78 degrees constantly in a 55 degree room and would purchase this heater again. Fluval makes excellent products. ... show more

  • Didn't work at first...then made this adjustment and all is good
Style: E100
Like many reviews my heater when first turned just stayed in the blue screen not heating..I completely submurged heater...then after doing more research I discovered the correct way(which shame on fluval for poor instructions) to install is to have the top red temp adjustment ABOVE and out of the water...that way it's able to read room temperature and calibrate correctly..once correctly installed I unplugged for 44 minutes to reset heater and now it's ok n with green screen and operating perfectly maintaining 78 degrees....heater cannot read room temperature being completely submurged after all!!! ... show more

  • My Fish Love it
Style: E100
First, this is not the cheapest aquarium heater out there. But, it does what I need it to do, and very accurately. Installation was pretty straight forward, unbox it, put it in your tank, and plug it in. Once I figured out the switch/rheostat, setting the temp was pretty easy. I have had it in my tank for over a month, and the temp fluctuates by 1 degree (tested using a conventional thermometer). So, build quality excellent, functionality excellent, durability excellent, price fair, value is relative, do you want to pay more for something that works better, or less for something that works. Overall, I recommend this as a buy, if just for the warranty (5 yrs) and simple design. ... show more

  • Accurate Temperature Readings At Last!
Style: E100
I love this heater. It accurately tells and keeps the temperature and that is the main thing for an aquarium heater. You can adjust the temperature to within .5 degree F. It warns if the water falls more than 2 degrees out of range, either hot (turning red) or cold (turning blue) so it's easy to see if there is a problem. Its black case is non-intrusive though a little bulky. It can be positioned either flat or at an angle. And its flow detection is helpful when positioning it. I give it two small dings, though, but which are aesthetic not functional. The display on the front is quite bright and does not dim so it's very much a nightlight in a dark room. And the control switch on the top is red which stands out unnecessarily. ... show more

  • FYI - too long for a 20 gallon long
Style: E100
I should have double-checked the measurements so I'm not taking any stars off for it, but I had a last-minute change from a 29G to a 20GL (thanks, landlord) and I knew the wattage would work. As a heads up, this heater is too long for a 20-gallon long tank unless you do not have any gravel at all.

  • Nice upgrade.
Style: E100
I bought this as a replacement for a "submersible" heater that failed and began allowing water into the element area. This one has been great. The switch-like lever at the top to control the heat setting is so much better than the standard twisty-knob that you find on most other heaters. Just make sure this is in an area of the tank with good water flow, or it will send an LF (low-flow) error. ... show more

  • Great Heater just needs good water flow to work
Style: E100
This heater keeps the temp at the set temp, the thermometer is off by 1 degree, but not the water temp. I have 2 other thermometers on the tank, a digital and JW. And I have the Cooper Atkins- Digital Pocket Thermometer. For my Betta fish in a 20 gallon long.

  • Safe and accurate
Style: E100
The heater is easy to set up, build-in suction cup helps a lot. Temperature is accurate, the enclosure feels solid, display is large and easy to read.
