Needed a door knob like this one as a security function for a closet door. To keep the average person out so nothing major. But overall it works as intended. It's pretty durable and looks clean with the screen and the actual doorknob. Pretty self explanatory to put together, it gives you directions but you can use your previous doorknob as a guide. The battery terminal needs 4 AAAs as well. All the parts were included so nothing was missing. The lock feature with the number pad was the feature I'm using and it has a good quality sound for pressing the buttons. Touch screen works as well, no issues. Setting up the password is easy too, provided the directions are in the manual. It also has a fingerprint password that you can use. I have no problems with it as well. Overall this item is really durable, looks clean and the security lock in itself works really well. ... show more

I just bought it yesterday and installed it this morning so I don't have a lot of time with it yet but I did a lot of comparison before purchasing this one and saw some negative reviews that I do not agree with so wanted to give my two cents. Installation was barely any different than installing any other door knob. There were three "extra" steps compared to a typical knob. You have to slide the square tube that runs between the handles into the lock side. There's nothing more than that though, just sliding it into place. You also have to screw the cams into the one side as they don't come attached to one side like a regular knob, not a big deal, it took 30 seconds extra. And third, you have to route the little cable through them and connect it to the other side. It really isn't anything to speak of and very simple to install. I saw one complaint about how confusing it is to get set up and connected to the app and getting the fingerprints set. False, I downloaded the app and followed the prompts and with bluetooth, my door handle was connected and within a couple of minutes I had renamed the lock and changed the volume of the beeps (to mute), had two of my finger prints set up and my passcode set up. Of course I can't speak to long term durability but it seems like it is very well made and feels firmer than the 23 year old builder grade knob that it replaced. I would predict a very long life out of this thing unless the electronics crap out on it. One thing to note, when I got it put together and the directions said to "test the handle" the outside handle turned but did not open the door and I thought for a second that it was broke. But that is how it "locks". When a normal door handle is locked, it won't turn. This one does turn, but it does not grab the square tubing when it is locked so it essentially "free spins". When you unlock it, it then grabs the tubing and allows the strike to be actuated. The only gripe that I have so far is the passcode requirements that it has to be 8-10 characters long. I would prefer to see it as an option to do a lesser security with a 4 or 6 code if desired as I had planned on making it a pin code. However, I am not that worried about it because I wouldn't think I would type in a code very often when it takes about a second for the fingerprint reader to actuate. I will be buying another one of these for my house to garage door soon! ... show more

Directions were a little confusing but once we figured it out, it works great There's a code that switches from auto lock to manual. Once you do that code it will switch the next time you use it. So if you want it locked now, click the lock. Then it will auto lock everytime you use it. If its currently locked and you're switching to manual mode, you still have to unlock it. Then it won't auto lock. So basically the next time you use your fingerprint it will do the mode its in. ... show more

The lock handle was super easy to install... if you've ever replaced a door handle it should be a piece of cake. The main difference was this one has a wire that goes through the center of the door to the back handle where the battery and some circuitry is located. Programming the lock (I got the version that does not use an app) was pretty easy with the instructions and I was able to set up multiple fingerprints and a numbered code. I've had this installed about a month now and the fingerprint reader has been very reliable. If the battery dies you can supposedly hook up a portable battery pack to get the handle powered and working again, but I haven't had a chance to test that yet. This handle also comes with two physical keys that can be used to unlock the handle in case the battery dies... which also gives me piece of mind that if the handle ever completely fails I'll still be able to unlock my door. ... show more
