No worries you can turn it on and lien on it and it works fine that way. It has infrared heat and kind of a little pulsing massage bit and it really does feel good on your lower back. I have been in need of a heating pad for my lower back that is more pain than I can deal with at times. I purchased this heating pad and it did not fit around my waist. I then contacted the seller to see if they sold extenders. I was informed the very next day that they had an 11" and 15" which did I need and it would be no cost to me. I mentioned I would need the 15". They then emailed me immediately and said they were out of the 15" but would go to a local vendor and purchase one and then would give me the name of Amazon Logistics to deliver and also gave me the tracking number. I suffer from chronic lower backpain -the disease of modern life- which started with a poorly treated injury over 15 years ago. I don't know what causes it to come back, and I have been able to reduce its occurrence by keeping a healthy weight, low impact exercising and strengthening the core. But it comes back eventually an unannounced, every 6 months or so When that happen, the only thing that helps me is naproxen with local regular heat, and sleeping with Icy Hot Lidocaine patches. For the heat part, I was using wired heating pads which forced me to lie down for several 15 minute periods daily, very inconvenient In this regard, this pad is incredible. I don't lose my mobility while using it and heat is strong and last for several 15 minutes sessions without having to recharge it. Being fixed around your waist using adjustable Velcro pads and belts, means the heat will always be in the right place no matter what. I'm waist 34 and it fits perfectly, with plenty of room for bigger sizes. Heat can be adjusted up to 3 settings, low, medium or high with a button conveniently located at the front. You can also turn-off the heat if you don't want to keep putting the belt on and off. It also charges very fast, full charge in little less than an hour The only feature I wouldn't pay extra for is the vibration. I seldom use it, and when I do it is more a nuisance than a help. It is not that strong and it does nothing for my pain. The only thing it does is to consume the battery faster. But I take for some people this "massage" option is useful Had it for over a year now and still going strong, haven't lost it effectiveness and elastics and fabric looks like new; Have used about 3 times now for a week at a time ... show more

I have back problems. I don't know what I did, but after I perform a task like grocery shopping or dishes, it is ACHING! I am keeping this by a chair in my house to use during these times and it has brought me a lot of relief. It's not curing my back problems and I didn't expect it to, but the vibration combined with the heating feature have made me move past those issues when they arise and have eased the discomfort. It is comfortable enough to wear but I do wish the directions for use were more clear. I figured it out but the direction we're not clear enough for me.
