I bought this item because years ago in a brick and mortar store, I bought a dozen of only the steak knives. Decades later they have held up great and still cut well, but three of the knives have gone MIA. Because I couldn't find just the steak knives sold separately anywhere to buy as replacements, I bought this set, even though I really didn't want or need the other items it incudes. Anyway, I wasn't sure what the quality would be like all these decades later, but it appears to be just as good. I was also pleasantly surprised by the selection of other items in the set, and I'm sure I'll find use for them. I should add that I've rarely washed these knives in a dishwasher, and usually wash them by hand. As I remember from my first purchase, you need to handle these very carefully while they're still new. The blades are razor blade sharp and dangerous to touch. Luckily, with continued use they lose that extreme razor blade sharpness, but still cut just as well. Until then, be careful. This is an excellent set of cutlery at a bargain price. Would love to be able to buy just a set of twelve steak knives, and I would love to buy these knives with white handles. ... show more

The old adage ( You get what you pay for) is true. I have to admit, I cheaper out on this knife set and, although functional, the knives are thin and a bit flimsy. Not the best knives in the world, but then again I knew what I was getting. I have some of these that I was replacing, they came from who knows where but still slice really well when it comes to having an everyday knife. I cut up snacks for my kids all day long. These get abused, thrown in the dishwasher and used more than my 'good' knives just out of easy care... and lack of care for what happens to them. ... show more

SHARP as a sword be careful when using them!!! Love the wooden block! This set doesn't look like I paid less $19 for it! Great gift idea! Update: this knife set is still as sharp as the first day I received them! I use them daily and even use them to cut chicken necks into small pieces for our 3 Chihuahuas! Still sharp after more than a year! 08/2023 I bought this set of knives in 2008. They're still able to cut everything I need easily although the steak knives are showing some wear & tear because I've used them daily. No rust or stains g the wooden block still looks new. These knives are so flimsy that the blades twisted while trying to cut raw chicken using 3 different knives in the set. They are also HAND wash ONLY. Who has time for that?
