This being my first arc-style lighter, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Having used it for a while now, this is an impressive item. Pros + Waterproof. This is the biggest selling point for me. It's constantly raining here, and the BIC-style lighters i usually use will fail if the striker gets wet. This lighter is not affected by rain. + Windproof. Can use this lighter to melt the end of a rope and finish your knot without the wind blowing out the flame. + Strength. I've been able to directly light everything from paper to small twigs. Comparable in strength to a standard flame lighter. + Safety clip. The safety clip that holds the lighter shut is well thought out. I can carry this in my pocket or throw it in a pouch without worrying about it opening up. + Uses standard usb-c charging, so I can just use my phone charger. + The flashlight is pretty good as well. I might get another one of these just to keep in the truck. Cons None that I can see. ... show more

This is a pretty good little emergency lighter. I got it for emergencies and camping/hiking. It comes packaged in a good quality, sturdy, and brightly orange colored case. It also comes with a lanyard included which is nice if you wanted to wear it around your neck for some reason or wanted to tie it to camp gear, or a boat, etc. The only issue I personally have with this lighter is the fact that the flame itself is too small. It needs to be redesigned to concentrate the flame more to give you a higher or more concentrated flame. It is an "electronic" flame so that may be the limiting factor in these "e-lighters". For emergencies however, or if you needed it out in the woods in an emergency, then yes, I do recommend this product because you can always take a piece of paper or kindling and use it to light that first and then light your larger fire with the item you used to get a fire starting up. I believe the case is waterproof or at least water resistant as it snaps shut to seal the components from the outside elements. Overall, a good value for money, just understand, it's a very small flame area. But it's perfect in an emergency for getting a fire started in a pinch. This comes with a cable for recharging the device as it works on a rechargeable battery. JUST MAKE SURE YOU CHARGE/RECHARGE it before you go camping or hiking, or keep it fully charged for use at home or in an emergency or something. Seems to hold a good charge, recharges easily and fast enough. The top-placement of the igniters is ideal, as I find it allows lighting all sorts of items like candle wicks, paper, wood shavings, Esbit fuel tabs, etc. Works better for me than the units with the igniters placed inside a u-channel.

The description says “300” lights in one battery charge. WHO is counting this? This thing at best, will last you about 2 packs of cigarettes, this would be 40 lights, not 300. I’m not putting it down because it’s a well constructed product and it does work consistently. Because it is nice looking and it does work i did not return it. Instead, i purchased another one so i keep the 2nd one charged up while i use the this one. That’s not a terrible thing while you’re at home but if you’re traveling you’ll have to either A) carry a backup mainstream Bic lighter with you, or B) be beady to hook it up to a power bank to re-charge it. This isn’t even considering the use of the flashlight, in which case it would last you much less time. I have 2 of them and it’s the same story with both so it’s not a malfunction. This is probably better for your occasional use to light candles. I do recommend it though. Just don’t believe the claim of 300 lights on 1 charge. ... show more

Note: Smoking is bad for you so don't follow in my bad habits. I have a Jeep Wrangler TJ and with the top down there's no way to keep a regular lighter lit when going over 40 mph. A plasma windproof lighter is the only way to go. I've had another plasma lighter for years, but forget it in the Jeep one day when a storm blew in and it didn't survive the rain. This lighter is great because I don't have to worry about the weather again. In the dark, my Jeep's dome light isn't very bright so the flashlight has been very handy. My dog just looked at me like I was crazy then ignored me when I used the whistle. I guess it's good if you get lost in the woods. I've also used this when camping. It's great to get the kindling started. But be careful about burning the hairs off the back of your hand when lighting a camp stove (A "hold my beer and watch this" move.) ... show more
