My husband likes cooking and he always has an extra knife for different reasons, therefor I always buying the delicate knife guards that I needed to replace later, until now, these knife guards are strong enough to be durable; I don't think I need to replace them anytime soon. My only disappointment is the I ordered three sets and received only one, Amazon gives me a credit to repurchase the missing items that got lost in the Amazon delivery department. I really like that it came in a two size combo. One big knife and one small knife sheath, exactly what I needed for my trip.I used to transport my good knives, gotta have my own. Worked great at keeping the knives if you lay them flat, had a good grip on inside. The cover could come off if too much movement, but still good to have this cover your knives. I ordered these for my new knives, a Zwiiling Pro 8 inch chef's knife and a generic 6 inch Santoku knife. Bothe covers fit perfectly. Pros: The lining is soft and doesn't scratch knives The 6" and 8" piece fit chef knives of those length comfortably Sturdy as can be. I needed to trim off a few inches on 12" I had bought as well and it was a task to cut with a hacksaw. Cons: They are a little loose, but a few rubber bands around them makes them perfect. Options for buying these aren't exactly practical in larger packages. The larger set comes with 2 pairing knife covers. I use these to transport knives to and from a professional kitchen and they have proven their quality. They've protected my expensive knives exactly as I would have hoped. Focusing on the 6" sheath. To completely cover the blade of a knife with a 6" blade, obviously the sheath needs to be slightly larger than 6". This is to protect the blade tip from damage, and to protect you FROM the tip. See image. That knife pictured in this sheath is a 6" chef knife. And I measured; that knife's blade is not longer than 6". This sheath is actually a bit UNDER 6" so it will certainly not safely cover a 6" knife blade. And I didn't want to use the 8" sheath for a 6" knife because then it is way bigger and no longer fits in my drawer. Returning. A sheath for a 6" knife should be, say, another half inch longer to be safe. ... show more
