  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Just as expected
Pattern Name: Waste Bag Size: 50 Liter
Picked this up as a replacement kitchen trash can. Wasn’t going to buy a sensor one but it was the cheapest stainless steel option I could find at the time without a recycle bin taking up part of the room. It arrived and had a small dent on the side but nothing to remove a star for. Came with a couple free bags but no batteries keep that in mind. I set it up pretty easy and so far so good. Keep in mind the opening is a bit smaller than the can size due to the sensor mechanism taking some of that space but there is still plenty room to toss out paper plates and such. I’m curious to see how long the batteries will last. My only complaint isn’t specific to this product but sensor cans in general and that’s it doesn’t always pick up when you are trying to open it and have to try a couple times. Annoying but my only gripe so far. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Finally a usable trash can
Pattern Name: Waste Bag Size: 47 Liter with Liner
Go through several trash cans and finally got this one with decent build quality and design. I don't know what other brands are thinking, how can you not to have a inner can if you need to use it as a kitchen can? What if something punch a hole in the bottom of trash bag? The motion sense switch is not 100% reliable on this one that's why I remove one star. Sometime you need to wave several times to get it open. Also the top is a bit narrow maybe deliberaly so it takes less space. Overall it's a good kitchen can. A bit more expensive than many similar cans. But you got what you paid for. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Does Great Job-Poor Battery Cover
Pattern Name: Waste Bag Size: 50 Liter Vertical
This trash can is great. Mine did not come dented. Really dig the count down. Why it’s not a 5 star, the battery cover keeps coming off easily during the change of trash bags and batteries fall into the bag. Unaware some times. Had to crawl into the trash bin to recover the battery lid.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice
Pattern Name: Waste Bag Size: 80 Liter
It worked as advertise. Hiwever it was received with a dent. Easy to setup. Unclear as to what deorizer goes in there. I wish they would have provided a sample

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Very sleek design
Pattern Name: Waste Bag Size: 80 Liter
I live this trash can and highly recommend to anyone looking for a simple trash can (especially those who cook and don’t have a free hand to open a lid). The only thing I would change is the lip on it which makes certain items difficult to get out. But the lip is there for the trash ring that holds the trash bag in place. It’s super easy to use and again highly recommend. Would be good for new mothers too because we all know you don’t always have a hand to open a trash can when you are carrying around a baby ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars good looking with good capacity, poor & strange "ring" design, no/wrong help with Bag Sizes
Pattern Name: Waste Bag Size: 80 Liter
I have had this trash can for about 4 full bags so far. Much like a previous reviewer, I also researched and bought this brand because I had a prior EKO model, that I too, got at Costco with which we were very happy. This model new model is sleek and attractive and the motion sensing is actually an improvement over the prior model I had. However, the bag design is a real issue. After a very long and extensive investigation, The EKO “G” bags that come with this trash simply cannot be found to purchase on-line. I measured these (which have a tight fit on EKO's, very odd, "ring") and those measurements came to ~26”W x 33”H. This "G" bag is branded as EKO and labeled as 50-90 liters – a very strange label! (Most bags give only the max capacity – with this logic – shouldn’t they say it has a 0 -90 liter capacity?). And although they are branded as EKO, you can’t buy them on their site or find them anywhere. There was a reply to a post on Amazon with another frustrated consumer and someone from EKO told them, “It works best with 20-gallon trash bags from Kirkland or Glad which you can purchase on Amazon.” This is simply wrong. I did not try this, however, looking at the Glad sizes on-line – they are 2ft x 2ft 8 in. That is 24” wide when flat, so a 4” total shorter perimeter, when opened, than the EKO “G” Bag. With as tight as the EKO “G” bag is, there is NO WAY the Glad 20Gal will fit. Using the “G” naming convention on the EKO bag confuses the issues. Simple Human uses letter coding on their bags and there are replicas that use the same convention. A “G” bag from Simple Human is a 30Liter capacity. True, this is between zero and 90, but I’d put money on it that this bag is 1/3 the size and wouldn’t fit on EKO’s awkward “ring”. What made finding the correct size bag so difficult is that Simple Human ALSO does NOT post their bag dimensions. I was lucky enough to find a Simple Human customer response comment on a Home Depot site that stated, “The dimensions of our code X custom fit can liners are 25.98” wide (seam-to-seam) by 34.65” in length”. I bought the Code X and it actually fits a bit better than the EKO “G” bag. It is actually a bit larger in width and is over 1.5” longer. Here’s the kicker. The Code X is specified as an 80L bag. But it is a little wider and 1.5” longer. At this point, I trust the Engineers at Simple Human far more than those at EKO. How can the EKO “G” bag have a capacity of 90L (10L more) when the EKO "G" bag is clearly smaller? Now for my rant on the “ring”. Not sure this was tested by EKO. Let’s remain positive and call this “an innovative design”. I am a Mechanical Engineer and consider myself pretty bright and handy. Using the instructions and trial and error, it took me forever to figure out how to install a bag on this silly ring. Eventually, I figured the best way to install it is to bring the top of the bag up through the inside, bottom of the ring and then fold the top of the bag (the part with the drawstrings) over the ring, so they cover the ring top and then rest on the external perimeter of the ring. A video, and/or clearer instructions, (such as the ones I just wrote) would be a huge improvement for the lay, non-Engineer-type, home-sanitation responsible person(s). Now, on to the “ring” use. I mentioned before that I was not sure they tested this. I have removed 4 bags from the trash can now. The previous EKO Can I had, with a liner, was a very standard concept in the home trash removal business. You could pack the bag, and although sometimes this caused a tight press-fit in the container, you could always eventually slide the bag out, even it someone needed to help you hold the liner while you pulled. Now THIS Can has a handle in the back, sharp-lipped stainless steal edges around the top and this odd ring thing. I have yet to pull a bag out of this can without it getting sliced in one or more places. Stuffing this bag will GUARANTEE holes and slices in your bag, caused simply by removing it from the Can. Yes, this design allows for more capacity with a smaller outside profile (thus, "innovative") - a great design goal! But EKO has shown poor execution on the FUNCTIONAL aspect of something as simple as a TRASH CAN. Why wasn’t the inside of the stainless steel made smoother? Whose idea was it to put that kind of handle on the back? Why didn’t you curve the lip on the top of the steal can outward and have the “ring” or motion-sensing top cover that lip? You will NEED to improve this design to sell these (to repeat customers). You are welcome for your design consulting and engineering services. Feel free to contact me to negotiate my service fee. ;-) ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Great for a garbage can…
Pattern Name: Waste Bag Size: 80 Liter
I was very skeptical prior to buying this garbage can after reading the reviews especially after many reviews said that they could not remove the sticker from the front of the garbage can. I have been able to remove the sticker without any issues. It looks really good for a garbage can and it works as described and not noisy. I am 100% satisfied with my purchase!! ... show more
