The installation was so easy, the app is very clean, and the live view on the thermostat is really cool! I cannot believe how much better the clarity of the camera and audio are vs the Blink I had previously. Obviously, the price difference between the two is significant but so is the quality. My only knock was the transformer I had with the previous doorbell was the smallest size ecobee claimed would work and it did not. Replacing it with the 16VAC/30VA was very simple and inexpensive but I wish I would have known that earlier. Either way, this works great with the ecobee security subscription, is very clear, and well worth the price. Highly recommend to anyone in the ecobee system or looking for their next smart home device. ... show more

Style: Smart Doorbell Video Camera
Of the camera doorbells on the market this one if my favorite, however I think you may want to consider on of the others, depending. Logi was the only doorbell with noticeable downsides outside of having a secure platform. Nest and their ecosystem was the best for full home automation and Eco was the best for a secure platform/ standalone product/ Apple Home iOS product. though you really can't go wrong with any of those 3. Logi I'll start by stating there really isn't a bad choice here, with the possible exception of logi, between them getting obsessively hot and not being terribly reliable. My dad has one and he has both issues though not enough so that he gets rid of it. Ring I had a Ring for years and it worked well. It was easy to install and the notifications were accurate. Plus the community is huge so you'll know when something happens. For example when something happened at a local elementary school my ring doorbell let me know first. Same for amber alerts. This is solid choice, though not the securest platform as the only downside here. Google - Nest They make a great doorbell. The major advantage this doorbell has is that it goes with the google ecosystem. I.E. if you want a lot of home automation, or you're in their ecosystem already there is no reason not to grab this doorbell. It's not the most secure platform either though not the least. Eco The picture is great, it works by far the easiest with other systems (like Apple or iOS), and there are no large downsides. If you want a secure platform or are using Apple's Home App this is your best bet. ... show more

I’m coming from having a ring doorbell (2 of them) and I really enjoyed the ring camera. I purchased the Ecobee doorbell because it integrates with Apple HomeKit and honestly I just wanted to try something new. The installation was awesome, so easy. The App walks you through the entire installation and I was super impressed. Best of all, it comes with a doorbell chime adapter, unlike the Ring (at least when I bought my Ring doorbell). The entire process took 45 min. Keep in mind you’ll likely need a power drill (to drill very small holes in wood), drill bit, and screwdriver. If you have masonry or other material you’ll need different tools, but this is a 101 level project and I’m confident anyone can complete with the solid instructions from the app, which is step-by-step. The quality of the product itself is great, and feels premium. Yes, it’s bigger than my Ring Pro but barely. The doorbell button is obvious and perfectly placed. The camera quality is great and the HomeKit integration is awesome and fast. I have an embarrassing amount of items in HomeKit and this was super simple to add. The camera loads fast and is high quality. My reasoning for 4 stars is with the software and motion/activity notifications. It’s frustratingly difficult to receive simple notifications when someone walks in front of the camera. I am no Einstein, but I shouldn’t have to search google to figure this step out. So far, I’ve been unable to figure this out to my satisfaction and this is done so well on Ring that this seems like a huge miss by Ecobee. It should be as simple as one button to turn these notifications on, no disarming or unarming. They get really close here but seems like they overthought this OR (more likely) I’m just missing the obvious. If their programmers are listening, you have a real winner on your hands if you just make motion alerts simpler and more obvious, none of this disarm/arm/Smart Security/confusing stuff. I will gladly give this 5 stars if either I can figure this out or they upstate the software. UPDATE: I figured out the notifications eventually but they were inconsistent and not reliable. I went back to my Ring Doorbell Pro 2 and it’s much better. This is all my opinion and I think in time the Ecobee will be great. ... show more

This was a gift for my son. He wanted a permanent hard wired weather resistant device, rather than the temporary plug in and use type. He lives in a climate with weather and wanted more stable connections. This Ecobee unit was perfect, it offered all the features he seeking. Great camera in daylight or night hours. The options for standard(free) or upgraded service(fee) is great. The app is easy to use and he integrated it easily into his home system. He loves the alerts and ability to converse with someone at the door even when not at home. The added security is great for peace of mind too. Our first ever video doorbell. Integrates with ecobee thermostat premium for an awesome experience. I love how it connects to the original mechanical door chime. When the button is pressed, it's an instant ring as if it were a generic doorbell button. Talking through the doorbell is pleasant and the audio quality is as if you're standing there. Wiring was easy if you follow the app. there are also wire diagrams online that I looked at prior to buying which aided my decision to buy. Ended up getting the complete home security as well since everything is in one app...4 door sensors, 3 security cameras and plan to get more room sensors too.
