  • It cooks very well.
Style: Premium Grill
It was some what damaged when it arrived, but was easy enough to bend back into shape. Went together ok. I've used it almost a dozen times and it cooks well. Shipping was fast, got it sooner than expected. Good value for the money, fairly sturdy, with some care it should last. I bought the cover for it also and it fits good. ... show more

  • A Solid Grill with mods
Style: Premium Grill
Looking at the reviews I was getting a bit hesitant on this one, specifically about the construction and sheet metal used. I decided to buy it because I needed something to replace my old Oklahoma Joe knock off I purchased some 8 years ago and simply wanted something new and easier to clean. Assembly: Assembly wise the hardest part was getting it out of the box. I was able to put it together solo (despite the instructions saying to do otherwise). I will admit it would have been a bit easier to lift the body and place it onto the wheel frame with a second person but I managed. I would also say don't lose a single part, the parts they give you are the exact number of parts you will need to put it together, no extras provided. I did have an issue where a screw hole weld broke, it was on one of the side shelf wings, but a simple bolt and nut easily fixed the problem. The Main Body and the lid are a single solid peice that is decently put together. I find the material used on it to be of decent quality and is far stronger and thicker than my old pit was. That said, shipping seems rough on these. Mine arrived upside down and I believe this to attribute to some of the overall issues I had with lid and body alignment and a few bent metal parts that where easy enough to bend back into place. Basically you may need to knock on it a bit with a hammer. Seeing other reviews that it leaks a lot, I used some simple gaskets to cover the lid, the fire box lid, and the dampeners and that greatly reduced the leaking, I'd say it is about 98% leak free now. This was a bit of a surprise at how easy it was to reduce the leaking. I also used Food Grade Sealant to seal the temperature sensor, but that did not leak for me anyway. Temperature Control: During the seasoning I was able to get it up to over 400 degrees into the 500 degree mark and keep it there for about 6 hours. Which is much better than my old one that would drop in temperature after about 2-3 hours. This was also before I put the gaskets on the dampeners which are VERY loose in my opinion. A thin gasket helped seal them up a lot and with no need to change screws. Ease of Clean So far cleaning it is much easier than my old grill. Just pulling out the ash tray and toss it out. Access to Fire Box: Getting to the charcoals is so much easier with this than my old Okalahoma knockoff. The firebox lid is one easy access point, but the grills themselves are designed to slide around so you do not have to take them off to add new coals (though you may have to move your food around). Overall Ultimately it is light years a head of my old Grill for a decent price even with the gasket and Food Grade Sealant modifications. ... show more

  • YUM
Style: Premium Grill
This is a great grill. The husband had given up on charcoal and lived in to gas hut this grill has changed his mind. Nice grates, accurate thermometer and substantial legs and wheels. The only thing that would make it better would be if the side trays folded down when not in use.

  • I'm so glad I bought this grill!
Style: Premium Grill
I've read some of the negative comments about this grill, specifically the comments regarding high temperatures. This almost put me off from buying this grill but I put my brave foot forward and made the purchase. I'm glad I did! This grill is fantastic! I have not experienced the grill exceeding temperatures over 400 degrees. For the most part, the temperatures hovered between 380 to 400. This may have to do with the simple fact that I have many years of experience cooking with coals and blocks of wood. You are NOT supposed to overload the the grill with coals and/or wood blocks. Just line the coal grate with enough coal to fill it with a max of two coals deep when mixed with wood blocks. That should last you a while for cooking. If you need more heat, open the cast iron door on the front of the grill and add some coal or wood. Building: I'll start by saying that this thing has a lot of parts.....a lot. The instructions state that this is a two person job but I was easily able to put it together by myself. I can see where two people would have come in handy to put on the two trays that attach to the sides of the grill but that's about it. Your tools for this job will mainly be a philips head screwdriver but to put the cart together, my socket set came also in handy. The entire build took about an hour and a half by myself. Like others have mentioned, the top does not seal completely. This is by design of the grill for airflow. I had no issues from this. I knocked a star off this review due to the lid having a slight bulge on the side and the coal tray being slightly bent. I was able to bend both back into the right shape but I should not have had to do that. Both were easy to fix. Cooking: Cooking on this grill proved to be a great experience! I managed to grill up more than enough food for 20 people in about three hours. You can put a lot of food in this grill! I had ribs on a rack, a bunch a chicken thighs on the grill and about 20 sausages on the warming rack! The hickory blocks gave the food a great flavor! Charcoal grill for the win once again! Clean up after grilling was easy. Just pull out the bottom ash tray and dump the ashes. I'm so glad I bought this grill! ... show more
