This CCTV kit replaced an old four camera system that developed a defective camera which has long been out of production. I did a lot of shopping and was impressed by not only the reasonable price but also all the features, a lot of technological advancement since my old system. An important consideration was the large all-in-one monitor. All the electronics, including the 3T HDD are housed in the 12" monitor, there is no bulky housing with a monitor on top, this allows more flexible placement of the monitor. I am surprised by the strength of the sending and receiving system. I have metal siding and have issues with outdoor wireless devices but not here. I had much better flexibility locating the cameras. Couldn't find a "dead " spot. I don't have an application for the motion sensor feature, I'm located in an urban area with a good share of windblown leaves, flying insects, birds, squirrels, racoons, and feral cats & dogs, so I suspect that using motion detection would be annoying in my case. Haven't installed the Wi-Fi feature yet but looking forward to doing so. It would be nice monitoring while on the computer in another room or on my cell phone. Very detailed video with near real time motion. A lot of technology for the price that would be hundreds more competitively. Well worth considering if in the market. ... show more

I got this setup to replace a IP camera setup I had that only recorded to the cloud. Setup was extremely easy, all cameras paired automatically as soon as i plugged them into power and I love the dvr setup as well as an app to view recording’s remotely. I bought an "extender" for my wifi thinking I would need it to reach my barn. When my router had an issue and I had to replace it, i found out that there was no need for the extender. The cameras worked just fine without. That is a couple hundred yards away. The set up was not that hard--instruction book with pictures made it doable even for me! The short version - if you’re looking for a security system capable of alerting you when there is an intruder … look elsewhere. Do Not purchase this system. If your looking for a system that is good to see what the kids are doing without getting off the couch then this is the system for you. The long version - I’ll start with the pro’s. Easy setup, decent night vision, easy to use even for the technologically impaired. Great system to see what the dog or kids are doing. But thats where the pro’s end. Cons - if you want a security system that alerts you when someone is on your property this is NOT the system for you. I have my system set to the lowest sensitivity setting as well as to alert me only if there is a human form present. Neither works. The system goes off constantly for a spiderweb, a bug, a leaf blows by, and sometimes you can’t even tell why it went off. The only way to get any peace or sleep was to shut the alerts off completely and thus what good is a security system that cannot alert you? For those of us on a very tight budget this was extremely disappointing. If the first con wasn’t enough to move you away from this product, and you’re still reading this review here are 2 more major cons for anyone seeking a security system. If by some miracle i was reviewing video and found a burglar on my property, the cameras default is a low def setting. The entire point of my security system is to get a picture of the criminal to the police. The cameras have a high def option when viewing the camera live but i have not found a setting to keep them in high def 24/7. My 3rd con is the speaker system. Like the doorbell ring you see on tv commercials, alot of criminals can be scared off just by speaking to them over the system even if you’re not home. The voice quality is so poor you can’t even tell that someone is talking to you. Unless i just got a bad unit somehow (and it does happen) this is a horrible security system and a waste of your hard earned money. If your looking for security… this is NOT the system. If however you just want to see what the kids are doing without leaving the couch then this is perfect for you. ... show more
