We looked are many, many feeder before we bough this one. Cat's That knock them over and open them up, cat's that step on and push the buttons, cat's that flip the lids off, cat's that bang the units forcing food to drop. Food dishes that are knocked across the room, dumping food all over. Portions that are too big for your cat if you feed them several times a day. Units that are all battery run. So far, this unit avoids all those problems and holds enough food to last awhile. The lid is impossible for a cat (we think) to ever get open. The feeder can't drop food (we banged it ourselves, although we weren't hungery). The control are on the REAR of the unit and such that a cat can't step on them and / push them as they are small and stiffer bubble switches. The main food tray is properly attached to the unit even if the outer stainless dish can possibly be knocked out. The main dish under the stainless outer tray stays put to still catch the food. Those midnight madness attacks can change things. This is a trade-off to be able to quickly remove and clean the stainless dish. So far the cat hasn't sent it on any trips. Food Serving size seems small, but it can go from 1-20, and this makes it really easy to trim your cat's diet when he/she is getting to be a fat cat. We trimmed ours from 5 servings to 4 servings, twice a day as an example. The smaller serving size make fine adjustments easy. The unit is wall AC feed, but for back-up power the unit needs three D-cells. Why not four they are sold in pairs? The programming is a touch stubborn getting the serving number properly selected to adjust the time of day and serving amount. The manual, printed in light gray ink in 3 point font is aggravating too small to read, doesn't properly explain how to get from one service number to the next. When it seems stuck on service #1 as you loop around, you need to hit the "up" arrow to whatever service number you want, it won't auto advance after you loop through a service number. This makes it harder than necessary to fast scan through your services. You have to STOP at the service number and hit the up arrow. The advantage is you can skip-press to service #3 to service #12 and not the ones between so it is an understandable trade-off for a few setting (loop method) to many settings (like the skip method). Once set, it's all OK. The voice recording works, but is pretty weak in uninciation volume. I guess my cat can hear real well. He sure hears the food hitting the stainless steel! He'll get used to it, right now my voice scares him, he looks at me with that WTH look. But, it is an option. The general build quality seems good. We'll just have to see how long the screw feed system works. The rest is static, and should not wear too badly. But, haver a terror cat that beats the dickins out of stuff. He trashed the previous single feed unit, ripping the door clean off and even the setting knob. 14 pounds of terror an paws. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Had this product for a week, here is my experience: Pros: The product is made of good materials, should be safe for pets. The packaging is neat and clean. The container is huge. It can store up to 3 weeks of dry food for my 2 cats. That’s enough to keep them fed when I’m away from home. The voice recording figure definitely works on binding my voice with their reaction. I can now call their names anytime and they’ll come to me, though they are thinking of getting food not me. But that’s ok. Cons: The meal scheduling feature is little confusing when setting up. Basically there are 10 meals that were in the systems, you need to adjust the timing and portions for each meals you like. If the portion stays at 0, no food will come out from that meal. Maybe other feeders would have similar problems when first time setting up. Each portion is very small. It took me some time to figure out how many portions should I set for each meal. Now I feed my 2 kittens 4 portions each meal for 3 meals a day. Overall satisfied, now I don’t need to worry about feeding them. I’ll come back for an update after using it for a while to see how reliable it is in the long term. ... show more

This thing has made my life a whole lot easier. Now I just have to fill up my boys water. If the feeder is out, you’ll know it because every time it dispenses it clinks loudly into the metal bowl. It was unsettling at first but now I like it because I know if it’s working or not. If you’re out of food, I’m sure your cat will let you know though! ... show more

Starting to look for a way to help my cat to loss some weight and this is actually a great choice. I have being using it for 10 days and find the best balance for the frequency and amount. The settings are pretty easy and do not need a phone. I like it so much. My cat likes it too.

The best of it is it can set that feed on time. I have a 12 weeks cat so I was decide to feed her 4 times per days. However I have work all day on the daytime, so I can’t do that. This machine help me fix this problem lol.

You could record your own voice, set up is very easy. I often get "too busy" to feed my dog, so this a nice solution without breaking the bank. I just wish they would have a light indicator to let you know if it goes empty. Otherwise, works as it claims.
