Purchased this last Christmas for in wall installation and used it heavily during the winter (20-30 hours per week) during the winter. Less during the summer. Have had no issues with it. Not overly noisy. There is a motor in it so there is some minimal noise. The only problem I had was the the log things that were included were broken upon arrival. I wasn't using them anyway so I just threw them away. The decorative glass pieces are very sharp so wear gloves or be careful. Multiple flame and color settings. Heater would be okay in a small room but not much help in a larger room. Comparable to a small electric heater. I plugged this in to an existing outlet, but my lights dim when the heater comes on. Never tripped the breaker but the heater is high wattage so you may need a separate circuit if you have heavy use on the circuit it is plugged into. Can be used without heat though and in that case it uses very little electricity - just enough for the motor and LEDs. Assembly was straight forward and instructions were good. Many videos online regarding assembly. One nice thing about Dimplex is that parts are usually available online in case the motor goes out or starts making noise. I've had no problems so far. Bought this unit to place inside my tv stand. I built a box in the cabinet following the wall mount dimensions/instructions and a few trips to my local hardware store. Instillation was easy. It comes with white rocks, clear glass chips, or a log base. I research many units before settling on this one. Somehow I thought the wood pieces could be rearranged. Not this one, the wood is one piece. You really can't mix the the wood with the stone or glass but we found we could carefully place the smaller glass pieces in-between the arch in the wood. That's the look we like best. The unity has many flame and color settings to choose from and when you turn the unit off, as long as you don't unplug it, it will return to that setting when you turn it on again! Love that memory feature. We haven't use the heater much as we don't need it. As expected, it makes a hum when on. It is a softer hum than my central heat for the house (which is only a few years old), so I think it's great! Just normal heater sounds. It didn't take long for the space to warm up. I purchased this product as a supplemental heater for our "Movie Room". I had been using a heater that looked like a radiator. It served the purpose, but was not aesthetically pleasing. The electric fireplace would be both warmer and also nicer to look at. I initially planned to hang it on the wall, but decided instead to use the foot stands (in case we wanted to move it). Installation was quite easy, but not all of the crystals would fit in the space allotted. The fireplace warms the room nicely and has a good ambiance. My only detraction is that the flames are not totally "real" looking, but I never had a chance to view the fireplace before purchasing. ... show more

I bought this for a luxury apartment that does not allow gas. I had a custom cabinetmaker build a 6" deep mantel and this slid right in. The heat output is fine, it says 1000 sq feet which I think is a bit of a stretch. It is a 1400W heater that is very quiet (imperceptibly so). The flames are extremely realistic, so far my only 2 guests did not know it was fake. If you look closely, you can tell, but it really does look great. For the money this is a steal. If you’re thinking about it, get one. It’s an easy install and they look great. I’ve had this for months and have loved it. It’s more for looks than heat, but that’s what I use it for anyway. The heat only cooled from the center vent. The first order was undeliverable due to something happening to the item in transit, but there was no hassle getting a replacement order and it showed up in a few days. ... show more

We did a lot of research, Dimplex got good reviews, and we really wanted this to work out for us. But we packed it up to return the same day we unpacked it. First, the box was damaged. Looks like someone drove a fork truck into it. Perhaps as a result, one of the mounting brackets was damaged but the mechanical engineer in the family didn't think it would affect operation. Still, we should have tried it out before we drilled holes in the wall to hang it. The touch controls on the front were less than responsive; patience wore thin. The fan was pretty noisy at higher temps - sounded like an old microwave oven - and we wanted this for heat, not just ambience. AND the "flames" were shooting out the bottom of the unit as well as thru the glass front. It looked like our baseboard was on fire! What? Was it because of the bent mount? Shoddy fit? Who knows. And finally, unless you are going to mount this IN the wall it's just going to look like a black tin box hanging off your wall. Maybe we just got a lemon, but our advice is to try something else. ... show more
