The on-board LED provides illumination for visibility in dark spots as you prune. This thing is amazing. It's very strong and makes pruning super fast and easy. We have some bradford pear trees in our backyard that have large branches fall off a few times a year. I use this thing to chop up the branches into a 35gallon trash bag. It's so easy to take a giant branch and chop it into tiny pieces.
