  • Good pick for older folks
As I have come to expect, Milwaukee makes good tools for the home owner. I've seen reviews by contractors that prefer other brands for construction grade tools, but I'm not in that class of users. I had a choice to make between the M12 and M18 versions of this tool. As I would expect, the heavier duty tool had much more impressive specs, but I'm in my eighties now and my specs are on the wane. This tool is very well built and feels like it will remain serviceable for a long time. The weight of the tool is very manageable, and the ability to set the tool at either fully open or 1/2 open at the start of the cut makes for efficient use of time and effort. Battery capacity was good, even in the smaller M12 size as I was ready for rest before the tool was. Balance of the tool and maneuverability is good as handle placement makes the battery a good counterbalance for the engine and blades. I recommend this tool. ... show more

  • Must have if you have a lot of pruning
This tool is amazing and yet another great example of Milwaukee Fuel technology. Super powerful and can easily cut through a 2 inch branch. I’ve replaced a good part of my small chainsaw use with this tool and it’s fast, convenient and extremely well-made. Seems to go forever on a battery charge.

  • Great interface and cuts very efficiently
The trigger controls the blades semi-proportionally. It's not perfectly smooth but much better than "on or off" to cut. This emulates the feeling of cutting with mechanical pruners and feels great to use. Blades are sharp out of the box but time will tell how well they hold up. For now I'm very satisfied with the build and the performance. ... show more

  • Cuts Thick Branches like a Hot Knife through Butter
This is a solid little Milwaukee tool and works GREAT! I have very good hand strength and have no trouble using manual shears to cut most medium to largish branches, but this really speeds up pruning work. I used it to cut a pile of tree trimmings to fit into my green waste container. The pile was big enough that I had to cut the branches into very small pieces to get it all to fit - I'm talking a few hundred cuts to reduce it all to 4 to 12 inches long sticks. Not having a mulcher/chipper available (which obviously would have been the best tool for the job), I started into the pile using my small Milwaukee M18v Hatchet chain saw, thinking it would be more efficient to cut through hand-held bundles or twigs and branches. Some of the smaller branches were causing more chain bucking than I was comfortable with, so I switched to using these shears to cut through one to five or six at a time depending on thickness. I used a freshly-charged 6Ah battery, and after probably 45 minutes of constant cutting it was still indicating a full charge. I don't think I would use these for delicate pruning as they don't provide nearly the sensitive feel of sharp Fiskars or Corona bypass shears, but great for cleanup jobs. With the positive comes the caution, which in this case is you really need to be deliberate with your handling and fully alert to avoid amputating a digit . Because they are SHARP - as they should be (Duh!, I know). The only negative for me, and it's very minor, is near the end of the work it was getting dusk (I wanted to get the bin to the curb for morning pickup), and the little white LED on the nose, that faces upward for some reason, became a little blinding. Having it shine down toward the working part of the blade would be an improvement. Or maybe only work in the light? ... show more

  • Useful tool
I still prefer my hand shears because it opens faster. I have to wait a beat or two for the shears to open. I wish it would be faster. It’s great for thicker stems. What ever the shears can’t handle and up to 3/4” cuts, I use this tools and it’s great. It took the place of a bulky lopper that is 24” long. Much easier to maneuver. Fits great in my Milwaukee M12 ecosystem. ... show more

  • one of my favorite tools
This was a splurge for me, I'm used to using loppers but my shoulders have been causing me grief as I get older. This unit is heavy but it'll cut like crazy. One inch branches are so easy to cut and this saves my shoulders and tennis elbow. I can cut for hours with it and cut much more than I used too with my collection of loppers and secateurs. ... show more
