I’ve been known to make dinner in other people’s kitchen. It’s not a great idea. I generally end up a frustrated, sweaty and exhausted mess. And I’ve learned that the most important tool in a kitchen is a good quality, dangerously sharp knife. But when people ask me to make dinner in their homes is because, generally, they don’t cook. So they never have great knives. And traveling with knives is…well, complicated. Which is why chefs alway have a knife roll. I’m no professional chef, but I’ve often thought a having a knife roll would be a great idea, if only to store my older, less good quality knives, with which, for one reason or another, I don’t want to part. I like that the Deqis Knife Roll is quite large. It fits every knife I would ever need cooking in someone else’s house. It also fits all the old knives I want to store. The space for the knife handles is snug, which is good. You don’t want your knives rolling around the knife roll. The canvas looks and feels tough enough to last forever. The “top-grain leather” however, I’m not so sure about. I don’t think it’s leather at all. I notice that in the last two paragraphs of the description on the Amazon site it says “leathery handle” with intricate stitching. Well, the stitching looks pretty basic to me, and the “top-grain leather” off the earlier paragraph may just be whatever “leathery” is. None of the “leather” on the knife roll looks or smells like leather to me. (I showed it to my son who’s in the fashion business and he thought it might be PU Leather, but wasn’t sure.) If I’m wrong about this, please let me know. I’d be happy to apologize in a follow up review. But leather or not, this knife roll does what it’s supposed to. ... show more

Great looking roll for a gift or for a second set of knives. A little cumbersome to get knives in and out of if your constantly bouncing back and forth but that is usually not a problem. Very good durability!

I collect knives. This is PERFECT for my needs. Roomy, the "leather pouch" inside seems thin and cheap, but the rest of the kit is great quality. Being waxed canvas is scratches easily, or should I say it leaves scratch marks. Nothing that's damaging, just the wax. Rolls up nice and secure with the 2 buckles. Comes in a zip tie cinch sack. I think it's a great product. Would recommend for knives that are larger, mainly FIXED BLADE knives I'm using mine for. ... show more

It's sturdy and well built. It has enough space to host the most important knives that you'll need. That said: 1) Why have those pouch and pen holders? It's for knives. I'd rather see holders for small paring knives, whetstone, shears and scissors... things that belong with a good knife set. 2) The handle pockets are to small for some large knives, and the spacing between is also too small. Where you put a cleaver (or anything similar), I have no idea. There's no place for it. ... show more
