  • Durable, easy to use
Gave this to my 12 year old son for a birthday gift and he was able to fly it after some effort and instruction. The hardest part was getting used to the inverted controls. The controller can be set for non-inverted control, but if he did enjoy it enough to think about getting other RC aircraft I wanted him to start off with the typical RC controller configuration. The nose is soft, and though it crashed dozens of times it never sustained permanent damage. I'm sure that the fans being ducted protected them from a lot of damage we would have experienced with nose or wing props. It was also a lot safer to handle for launching since the propellors are protected from fingers. It's best used in still air, but we were able to use it on a moderately windy day and still have fun with it. It's not slow enough to be used indoors, though I expect a large school or church gym might be ok. ... show more

  • Did not work
I bought this item for Christmas. We tested it out and it started up once. After taking it to a safe place to fly it never started again.

  • Ok first first flights at a soccer field, but under powered
This is model had me excited as we have been seeing more and more affordable and fun park flyers. The model is foam but very light weight and with an oversized nose cone to help absorb unintended impacts. The 2s lipos are similar to whoop drone batteries and extras can be found. There isn't much room to adjust the battery for CG so you might need to add a tiny bit of weight if it pitches up too much like mine did. Make sure that there isn't much breeze since even on what seems to be the fast speed setting it is very reserved and can get blown downwind pretty quickly. Once I got the knack it wasn't hard to keep it in the air for over 8 minutes. My worst crash was trying the acrobatic functions at too low an altitude. The nose cone does a really good job BTW. Make sure you're a good 50ft up so that you have time to regain control if it does start to wobble or nose down. This isn't a high performance EDF plane, but for a soccer field on a calm day, it's pretty fun. ... show more

  • VERY easy to fly
This one was one of the easier to control rc planes I've reviewed. It kept pitching up more than I would like, so as another reviewer suggested, I taped two pennies (4 grams) to the nose and that did make it a bit more stable, but wasn't absolutely necessary. I was able to take off and land from the blacktop with the rudimentary wheels, but found that in general that made max fly time almost of minute less. If you're careful, you can get 10-12 minutes of fly time per battery, but full throttle with lots of turns and flips, figure maybe 8 minutes. They give you two batteries, so if you have to travel to a field to fly this, plan on taking several rc planes or drones, since after 15 minutes the fun is over for this particular VERY cool looking jet. Over all, given the under $100 price tag, this one is a winner. ... show more

  • Absolutely garbage with the batteries it comes with but it can be better
With the 2S batteries this thing comes with it doesn’t even have enough power to take off. I replaced the battery for a spektrum 3S 300mAh battery and it performed amazing until one of the motors burned out and it entered a flat spin.

  • A challenge to fly but a really cool plane
The DeeRC FX-9672 EPP foam take on the SR-72 Darkstar is an awesome design that looks about perfect. Does she fly? Yes, but it takes a bit of work and a whole lot of crashing to get there. The plane operates on a 4-channel remote that is pretty decent, and it has an over 500' range which you need with this plane. The controller operates the two ailerons and provides differential thrust to each of the brushed motor engines located inside the plane. You get two doubled-up batteries which is good because you are controlling two motors here, and an instruction booklet, a spare nosecone sheath and two sets of landing gear (which are close to worthless). Also a tube of glue for repairs, but I have not seen a need for that yet. The controllability is sensitive in some areas and broad in others. This makes understanding how to fly it a bit of a trick as the reactions are varied. One thing to know for sure, it's too light in the nose and requires a small amount of ballast up front and keep the thrust going because she stalls out easily. It's a cool plane no matter how you slice it, just be prepared to work at flying it. ... show more

  • It will fly
It’s ok. Not the best. It flys but honestly it’s very easy to break I flew it once and when it landed the front tire wasn’t in all the way and it crashed and broke the wing. It’s a nice size. Battery life is very good. It has ok control. It’s not that easy to use it sucks to try to take off off the ground. ... show more
