  • Best budget crawler!
My son is RC crazy, but we’re not in a position to afford one of the expensive brand-name crawlers. He went through 3 in the $100 range within a week of receiving them. Different parts would break, motors would smoke, batteries would only last a few minutes, etc. He is pretty rough on them (he’s a 14 year old boy), but this one has held up. He says it is slow, but that it’s not supposed to be fast, so that’s ok. It has incredible flex and enough power to handle leaves, some undergrowth, roots, rocks, and even mud. He hasn’t gotten it all the way in water yet—just up to the axles or so—but it seems to be fairly water-resistant. His main complaint was the battery life of the included batteries being quite short. He found a FaceBook group dedicated to these crawlers and is getting lots of tips for upgrades. It seems to be a durable enough platform to modify instead of saving up for a more expensive platform. I am very pleased with it because he is pleased. I highly recommend this RC for budget buyers. ... show more

  • Good Value
I was looking for an entry level RC vehicle that could hand my lawn's terrain; kind of high grass and hilly. It's robust and has plenty of power for my needs. Easy to use and versatile controls. Emailed the mfr with a question and they got right back to me. The only thing I wish is that you didn't have to take off the body and remove the battery for charging. I am purchasing a second one. ... show more

  • surprised me, So much fun...
If you are already into the RC crawler scene, then you already know, I'll write this for those considering... I recently got into the "crawler" fun. My first purchase was the Traxxas High Trail, (cough) $700 later, after you buy the battery and charger not included. Yikes, I know but don't get me wrong, it is a very good looking and capable crawler, but $700 is a barrier to many people. But it gave me a particular perspective. The Danchee is surprisingly capable, has a feature that most RTR (ready to run) crawlers don't, specifically the ability to changes steering modes... With a click of a button on the controller (included) you can switch from 1. Front wheel steering 2. Front and back steer in the same direction (think crab) 3. Front and back steer different direction (think monster truck) 4. Rear wheel steering It is made by REDCAT, at least they put their name on it, and they have a pretty good reputation. Comes with battery and charger, albeit not top quality, but it works very well. I have yet to run the battery out. My longest stint was 25 mins. The tires are pretty tough, not foam filled but I have not seen them fold. It's actually good looking as well. Here's a list of things you should be aware of... It is made of plastic, but as long as you don't drop it off a cliff it will hold up. It is not fast. It's not gonna "rooster tail", but it moves pretty decent for a crawler. Upgrading the motors (there are 2, one on each axel) while possible will be a challenge, as they are enclosed in the axel housing. The servos don't have a lot of torque. This means if your tire is up against a rock, it may not be able to turn, but this is a factor in rigs triple the price range of the Danchee. Even the afore mentioned High Trail has issues. All that said, I love this thing. I have run it more than the High Trail lately. No regerts ;) If you want to get a good taste of the fun RC crawling can be, but don't want to drop half your rent money, this isn't a bad choice. ... show more

  • Pretty sweet crawler
The media could not be loaded. This 1/10 scale crawler is the perfect size, not too small not super huge. Tires big and decently soft. 4 wheel steering with 4 different functions on remote control allows wheels to turn Tandem every which way even does a crab walk, nice amount of travel on the shocks and damn near turns in half with amount of axis between axles. Decently fast to give you enough power to work your way through obstacles. Some cons not too bad tho: going to upgrade tires need to a lil bigger/softer for my liking, and it’s a lil squeaky after a couple hours use but maybe some oiling will help. Battery has different style plug on it so not so interchangeable like other rc cars, And last although the crawler is not light weigh at all it could be a lil heavier to add some more traction to help with its power but I guess that’s what upgrades are for. Overall a nice crawler if your starting out it’s PERFECT and if you’ve been around a while it’s def worth the price and you will be impressed what this crawler can do. ... show more

  • Great bang for the buck
I bought this as my first crawler. It's quite impressive, performance wise. The 3 steering modes are very helpful. It has decent power with a 2s lipo battery that I added. It's very capable and a lot of fun. Really an excellent bang for the buck. I added weight in the tires and took the foams out. These 2 minor mods made a big difference. The tires are ok'ish. They get grippier with use. You really can't expect any more than what you get for the money. This a great value and I really don't think there is a machine that can compete in this price range. All that said, I ordered a redcat gen 8 a week later. I liked that all parts on the danchee are readily available when something breaks. What I didn't like about this crawler is lack of upgrades. The suspension and steering links are plastic and have a lot of flex when in a slight bind and there's no metal links to replace them with. I also wanted something a little more realistic. The motor on axle setup provides really good performance and articulation but at the expense of losing driveshafts and the realistic looks you get from them. It just doesn't have the quality look and feel you get from hobby grade machines. My son is now enjoying the heck out of the danchee. It will actually do some things my gen 8 won't do at 3x the price. I'd recommend this to anyone wanting to get into a crawler on a budget, just don't be surprised if it leaves you wanting more. ... show more
