It's not too large but large enough to get the job done. I certainly like the digital display which shows time and temperature. It's easy to set and you get a constant readout of time and temperature until it's done. I've dehydrated several pounds of Chicken Gizzards and Chicken Hearts for my dogs and made Chicken Jerky from Chicken breasts.. It does a fantastic job of dehydrating the meat. I noticed others complained about the distance between the trays not being high enough. Well, read the manual and you will see you can place the trays so they stack about a half inch or more higher. You will need that height for thick slices of food. I have not had any issues with the distance between the trays. Overall I think this unit is one of the best out there for the price. It does reach 165F and is fairly quiet. If you want to do the occasional food dehydrating and don't need a large industrial unit this should work well for you. I have used this several times to make jerky treats for my dog. This works perfect to make the chicken jerky It easy to use and my dog gets very excited when he sees it come out! I just cut up the chicken and lay it on the little shelves and it comes out perfect!

    • Slow and steady

I purchased the Corsi dehydrator to make fruit leather and jerky. I have some severe gastric issues that mean even the most "organic" commercially processed foods cause me great upset. Whereas if I do it myself, I have no issues. One thing I did notice is that the times listed in the recipe book that comes with the dehydrator are very much approximate. Also, I noticed that I had better results if I rotated the trays during the process. So, for example, moving the bottom most tray to the top and the top to the bottom, in order. (So #7 became #1, #6 became #2, ect) That was for the fruit leather. For the jerky, I still rotated the trays but noticed that the bottom trays were getting done a lot faster than the listed time in the recipe booklet. Overall, it's a good machine. Easy to use. Easy to clean up. I definitely reccomend getting the accesory mats for fruit leather and jerky. Realize that you will still need to use parchment paper for the fruit leather. It says to remove the fruit leather from the parchment paper after 6 hours, but I could not do that as it was still too wet/tacky. I just left it on for the entire time, which made it much easier to deal with. Alas, parchment papers do not come in round portions, so I had to spend time cutting it to size; I did not mind that. Some people might, but I figure if you are dehydrating your own foods, you understand that it's not going to be a fast or completely convenient process. It's going to require some time and effort; it's not like popping round to the local 7-11 when you want a packet of chips or what have you. We did strawberry fruit leather, Siracha honey jerky and Smokey Maple Jerky. Turned out awesome, though the fruit leather took dang near 24 hours to finish off. It was well worth the wait and easier than doing it in my oven. I recommend this machine for someone who is just starting out; just realize that you are going to have to order the accessory mats separate. They DO NOT come with the machine! You can get universal accessories but be careful, as I found out the ones I got were a bit too large and had to be trimmed down. All in all, it's a good little work horse. ... show more

I bought this dehydrator as a birthday gift for my husband less than 2 months ago. He has used it several times to make beef jerky. He’s been experimenting with various recipes and cook times. He loves it. Clean up is a breeze. I’m happy because he’s no longer dirtying up my oven to make his jerky. Our daughter wants to try dehydrating strawberries in it, when they are in season.
