I used these for both cold and hot smoking. I smoked some cheese in my smoker without lighting my smoker. Just filled one of these with pellets, lit it, and it smoked great. I also used it to enhance the smoke flavor in my smoker by adding it to an already smoking brisket. The tubes lasted about 4 hours each. I dont know about "billowing" smoke, but it does a pretty good job. I'd buy again if it failed. Decent price.

If you want the taste of a smoker, but only have a regular or gas grill, just add pellets to this tube and it will change your entire grilling experience! I smoke everything with this tube, works great!
