This phone holder exceeded my expectations. I usually don't like to put a phone holder in/on the vent. I purchased a new vehicle and the phone holder I already had purchased previously goes in the cup holder and it was in my way for various reasons. The design of the center console and armrest is a lot different in my new vehicle. I don't want a phone holder on my dash either. I decided to give this phone holder a try. I like it. It's not heavy or too bulky and it's very sturdy. My phone is on the smaller side of the spectrum so I don't think there is a risk of longterm damage to my vent. YMMV. I do recommend it if your phone isn't the size of a small tablet. I would not put too much weight or unnecessary leverage on my vehicle's vents. It's very easy to install. ... show more

I purchased this as I was tired of over the air radio and was getting into streaming wither music or pod casts and needed a way to have the phone available in a practical place like the radio controls. I first mounted it in a vent as intended but with the phone in the way of the air flow and the position of the vent it wasn't ideal I kept messing with the exact location on the vent and eventually over tightened the mount and cracked one of the fins. on the vent. I have an older vehicle. that still had a CD player as original equipment. so I spent a little time working the mounting hook into the CD slot and tightened the mount there. It is now in the perfect location over the radio buttons of the car unit and not over the air on the vent. I have to say it was a bit tricky getting the mount hook in the the CD slot, but it eventually went in without modification or breaking the slot. ... show more
