Tarp is heavy duty and I had high hopes for it being waterproof as advertised. After 2 days of rain there was some minor puddling in one section where the tarp was not taught. The fact that the water puddled was encouraging, however when I removed the tarp, a significant amount of water had soaked through. I live in off base military housing where I hear it's not aloud to drill into the wood to add covering. So I got heavy duty zip ties and strapped this thing down to keep my patio area cool. I live in San Diego where it's hot alot. So far it's doing its job.

I bought this tarp because it said WATERPROOF and it's NOT! The purpose was to protect outdoor appliances. After some early rain I noticed the water went right through. I hate returning things so I'm using it to protect garage stuff from dust. So, if anyone is looking for a WATERPROOF tarp, this is not it. Do you need a tarp to protect against most weather conditions save for hurricane or a blizzard? This will probably do it. It is extremely heavy, durable, and contrary to some other reviews in here, it is indeed waterproof. I used it to cover a pile of wood and yard waste for just under a month and it blocked rain and remained in place despite some heavy winds. If you need just a regular tarp for occasional, mundane use, you probably don't need this. But if you need something that you will be using a lot and need it to last, this will probably do it. ... show more

I needed a canvas tarp for covering hay in the back of my truck. I travel quite a bit to get the hay and the weather can change quickly on me while I am driving and I don't want the hay to get wet. This tarp is really fantastic. It's exactly what we wanted to cover our deck pergola. Who needs pergola flaps for $125 when this tarp does a better job at covering our sitting area exactly, providing great shade, being sturdy and durable. We especially appreciate the grommets which allow us to securely fasten the tarp to the pergola with bungee cords. It's a quick matter of unhooking the bungee cords when we have to roll the tarp up quickly for high winds or stormy weather. I can't speak to the water resistance yet as it hasn't rained on the tarp yet, but it's canvas. It's heavy duty, too. So I suspect the water is going to roll right off. Update- One year with the tarps, all seasons experienced, and they are great. Would definitely recommend and would buy again. My 4 stars are now 5. The first had a big seam, no big deal. The 2nd was a piece together, but the rains came early to the Pacific NW and we had to use it. The seams do leak if water sits (for 5 minutes). Thought we'd fixed that with more supports underneath to make it tight and it STILL leaks. A plastic tarp may have looked tacky but at a fraction of the cost may have been the better choice. And if you get a super seamed one, send it back if you can. It's truly a rip off. ... show more
