I have used this RidgidClear snake a lot. I have an apartment building and people who rent the apartments have hair. Their hair clogs the shower drains, sometimes. I live in the same building and my hair clogs the drains. Having a plumber come and snake out clogged drains is expensive. This snake has saved me money. MY RidgidClear snake has been used half a dozen times. It is a serious tool, which you should know how to use before use, is easy to use, but can cause harm. I have discovered only one fault and that is the protective tube around the cable comes off. It is secured only with slight pressure on main device. This might be a safety feature. I stop then reattach and continue slowly when noticed. I always wear solid gloves to protect my hands and googles for my eyes. ... show more

OK this saves you money. I have a sink connected to my heating and Airconditioning system and it get clogged every year. So finally i looked around and found this product that has just the right length of cable for sinks, bath tubs etc., 25ft. The problem I had was just beyond 15 feet of cable. I had trouble getting the device to work because it was contra intuitive. it has a reverse button on the side but you don't use it. one has to manipulate the two brakes it has on the cable. Push one for forward and one for backward. I don't know why that works but it does. Anyway I have been paying more to have a plumber do this just about every year than the machine costs. So it really is helpfull and beats the hell out of a manual unit or one of those drill jobs because the cable is longer. Great Product it is actually very compact also. ... show more

I was skeptical at first as all these guys were saying how garbage this tool is... yeah the hose guard pops off alot my suggestion put a hose clamp on it... other then that the tool did the job unclogged both my bathroom sinks that every liquid plumber in a bottle couldn't touch... operation is super easy if you can run a drill you can operate this machine... my other bit of advice when you hit the clog stop feeding just sit there a second and drill into the clog then start feeding again... I ran both my drains the full 30 feet the machine would go... my house wad built in the 60's I have cast iron pipes this little machine put a whole lot of money in installing new plumbing or calling out plumbing guys to snake it for me to the back burner... one day I'll have to replace my pipes but not today... thanks for another quality machine rigid... ... show more

After purchasing an older house we had several sewer back up issues .. we have a home warranty and it costs $75 for someone to come and snake the pipes but often times it takes 24-48-72h. I bought a manual snake and it did not work for my sewer line so I decided to get this one. One Saturday our main sewer backed up and I was able to use this one to at least get it going back to a usable state.. we eventually had to have a plumber come with a heavier duty one and we hydrojetted the main sewer line to better clean the roots but with a family with 2 little kids I can't afford to wait days when my main clogs. My trusted plumber came and I joked saying that I should buy a snake like his (I actually almost did buy the bigger model) but he told me that there is no reason a home owner needs something bigger than this model. I know I have an issue on my main line so I need to fix it .. This weekend my kitchen sink was clogged.. I was hopping it was the p-trap.. nope. it was further down the line.. I got this bad boy out and was able to clean the clog in 10 minutes. So far I have used it 4 times, 2 sewer lines and 2 kitchen .. that is 4x$75 for me so do the math. I like how easy it is to use, go slow.. back and forth and it cleans mostly all common clogs. ... show more

Great little machine and pretty strong. The only thing I dont care for is the method of pushing the line out and bringing it back in. There are special screws with bearings that do this and the screws are quite short and have fallen out several times and now have become lost so this is all being done manually. The devices peddal and power cable are very short making it awkward sometimes when trying to operate since you cannot be too far from an outlet or from the machine. The other issue is the hose for the line that comes out and handle constatntly comes lose when using and separates in the middle and from the base unit. This makes it very awkward when trying to use. Regarding the machine overall it was more powerful that I exepected and has worked very well on my drains at home. I am giving it a 3 stars becuase of the short power cable, requiring it to be very close to any outlet, and the missing parts for the handle not being replaceable. Cannot find anywhere I can simply buy those screws and bearings or any hose pieces such as extensions or replacement handles. :( if someone knows where I can find these please let me know. ... show more

Cleaned and opened drains in both the kitchen and my bathrooms. Gloves are a definite must with this tool; the black gunk that comes out of drains is gross and will stain skin and clothing alike. I’m a 68 yo female but have always been a DIY’er if possible. I have a cordless drill that I’ve used a snake with before but it’s a PITA and very heavy! I wanted something easier to hold and more powerful and this Ridgid fit the bill. I had to pull cable back and forth several times when it slowed down or ran into a hair clog and I also went the full length of the cable and retracted it, twice, just the make sure I got the drain completely open. Great purchase, I feel I got my moneys worth for less than a plumber’s charge! Would definitely buy again and highly recommend! ... show more
