This is an unsafe product. Several rocks in the fire pit exploded on our first use. Luckily the children weren't hit, but our friend was hit in the face. This works perfectly and meets every expectation I had! Heat output is good at low & high; A decent amount of lava rock was supplied, It has a long hose. The "lid" is a metal stamped lid with a hole, but it is missing a handle in the middle. It's not really a problem because you wouldn't be taking the lid off while this is hot. The carry kit is a nylon harness with some metal hooks. There is a need to space the hooks uniformly around the unit so they won't slide around, then tighten the straps. It would be better if there were holes drilled for the carry kit, but if you just know to do it right you'll be OK. There are 4 plastic "legs" that I wasn't sure what they were for -- but they are the "propane tank stabilizer". You can put them on the bottom of the tank so it help it stay upright. Before you light this, keep in mind after unpacking from long storage there is air in that 10 foot hose. So I just run the gas for 20 seconds without lighting it to purge the air; Then WAIT for 2-3 minutes for the propane to clear out before trying to turn it on & light it. ... show more

This is well worth the money if you’re camping in an area that doesn’t allow wood burning. It worked well while it lasted. I used a standard 20 lb propane tank and it lasted on a med-high setting for about 12-15 hrs. The heat was great on those cold nights. I did use it for some cooking with a closed pot, even though it said not to, but I didn’t see a problem. I wish it lasted until our s’more night, but next time out I’ll bring an extra propane tank. ... show more

I enjoy my heater for tailgates at the ski area. Cozy to stand or sit around with a frosty. One caveat, though, and kinda scary... I fired it up to inspect the flame and test my connections, and went about some tasks while it burned off the new paint smell. Suddenly, one of the lava rocks exploded, and sent several others flying off like a shot into the trees. I was certainly glad I was standing next to it then. I let it burn for an hour at full heat, and would recommend everyone do that before using it at close range. I tried to reach the manufacturer, but after three or four attempts over a couple days, always getting lost in the "press 1 for..." zone, I gave up. Hopefully, my experience is rare, and none gets hurt. Like I said, I enjoy my stove, and after many hours, have not had anymore explode! lol. Do a burn in from a safe distance!! ... show more

It was easy to set up, and provided us good warmth for hours. I noticed it remains quite cool on the ground underneath the pit, so we were able to place it on top of a plastic table without worrying about melting the table. By putting it up on a table, it was closer to our upper body, which made it more effective at keeping us warm. I would wholeheartedly recommend it if all you need is a little warmth and ambiance for a cold night. I ordered the one with a top, which is nice because it makes it a lot easier to transport. The straps keep the top locked on top, and we just kept the box and reinforced it with tape to it’ll last as a carrying vessel. ... show more

Complete pile of garbage. The regulator broke after a month of use, causing flames to shoot from the control knob. Contacted the company and was completely ignored. Never got a response. NO NOT BUY.

Everything works well; except the customer service can get some improvement. We called and asked about the potential missing part for the cover. The lid is important if using or moving to different area. It covers hot coals (it will get hot because made of same metal), helps stop spills when carrying, and can block wind.
