Features

  • DESIGNED FOR CDs Most manufacturers focus on adding functions unrelated to audio performance, instead of focusing on quality. The AXC35 is a versatile, gapless playback CD player that was designed to do one thing and do it very well.
  • NO CORNERS CUT The AXC35 uses the Wolfson WM8524 DAC to ensure superb sound quality from standard CDs and various media files. Pair that with the two-pole Butterworth filter, and your CDs will sound clearer and more precise than ever.
  • PLAYS MP3 & WMA - The AXC35 will play MP3 and WMA files from CD-R, CD-RW and CD-ROM discs. Theres also a dedicated digital output to record from a CD to a digital format or even connect to a standalone DAC to improve your sound even further.
  • ALL METAL CHASSIS Cambridge built the AXC35 with an all metal chassis that is built to last, and it provides consistent performance while preventing the vibration that can distort sound.
  • TECH SPECS - THD @ 1KHZ -10DBFS <0.01%, DAC WM8524, GAPLESS PLAYBACK, FILTER 2-pole Butterworth, FREQUENCY RESPONSE (+/-0.4DB) 20Hz - 20kHz, THD @ 1KHZ 0DBFS <0.006%, S/N RATIO >93dB, CROSSTALK @1KHZ, DIMENSIONS 3.0" x 16.9" x 12.2, WEIGHT 8.3lbs

  • Cambridge CD Player
The CD player works great, easy to set up, and sounds wonderful. It matches my receiver so the whole setup looks great.

  • Plays perfectly So Far
Out of the box this unit is perfect. It loads fast, and plays with no problem at all. The sound quality is very good. Unit looks nice. Remote works but the finish of the remote is black plastic and does not have the sophisticated look of the unit. In my opinion the finish on the remote should have been the same as the beautiful finish on the front of the unit. The display is fine but could be larger. Contrary to some reviews the tray opens and closes smoothly. The unit has a simple but sleek and elegant look. This is the second unit I have purchased. The first was a famous brand and actually had more features than this unit but it had all kinds of popping sounds and momentary distortion in different tracks of a cd and I mean pristine cd's. This was right out of the box. I sent it back and decided not to order another one. Then I chose the Cambridge and so far so good. ... show more

  • Great player, especially for gapless mp3 playback
I bought this player because I love opera, and inexpensive disk players often have gaps when playing CDs or disks that have been burned with mp3 files. It's a superb machine, with very simple setup and operation, it looks sleek, and it sounds wonderful! I often purchase operas on CD or mp3 downloads, and when I burn the mp3 files to disk I get a gorgeous sound! Many of my operas are older recordings from the 1950s, and with this disk player these older recordings sound like they were recorded today. The player is expensive, sure, especially if you are using an inexpensive DVD player for your CDs. However, if great orchestral sound and vocals are important to you, then you get what you pay for, and this Cambridge Audio player is a perfect addition to a quality sound system. ... show more

  • My Best CD Player
I have 6 cd players, the most expensive one costing $2500. However, that one was from 2004 and a lot has changed in audio science since then. The Cambridge is totally engaging. The detail and air is great and the bass is abundantly present when in the recording. It comes with a small power cord and you have to experiment with the polarity to find the right way to put it the cd player. The method I use is listening to the bass. If the polarity is wrong on the power cable, the bass will be less discernable and present. I am so pleased at the price for what you get. If I heard it without knowing the price, I'd say it's a $2000 player. Of course, it also helps to have a good power filter, interconnects, and amp (headphone amp in my case). ... show more

  • A decent CD player without bells and whistles
The sound is amazing: accurate if boringly balanced. It replaced a 30 year-old Denon 1560, which was a great player in its day. The remote was loaded with easy to use features. The player’s display gave more info, including how many tracks a CD had. This player has a longer lag before it can play a disc. It had an annoying vibration when a disc started playing, and this was a common complaint. But after a few weeks, it just went away on its own. The drawer opens and closes without the smooth grace of my old player. And it feels flimsy. But if sound is what matters, it delivers enough. For the money, there’s nothing better. ... show more

  • Sounds fantastic
Works well and sounds great. My old cd changer is set up to use the DAC built into my receiver. The Cambridge is hooked up through RCA so the fancy DAC is in use. AB comparison reveals better bass and better soundstage from the Cambridge. You do need to do some critical listening to hear the difference but it is noticeable. ... show more

  • Great to listen to CDs again
I had been using an old bluray player but it didn't do really do justice due to an antiquated DAC. This unit, though, not only it is gapless, it also carries a much better digital to analog conversion, and even if you do not add a separate DAC or amp, the built in DAC for this Cambridge unit brought my old CD collection to life again. Great great sound, totally worth it. Now I just gotta get all my CDs out of boxes and display them again. ... show more

  • Does one thing well? No.
I read that this machine does one thing well: play audio CDs. Make that zero things. It skips on many if not most CDs. I put the same disc in my crappy sounding $29 Phillips DVD/CD player and it plays without even a hiccup. Put same CD back in the Cambridge and it keeps skipping. The unit sounds good, but that makes no difference when it can’t read a BRAND NEW disc just taken out of the cellophane without skipping. I wish I would have paid more attention to the one star reviews, but I thought they were a reputable company that would figure out why so many of their new CD players can’t read CDs. Turns out not to be the case. I get the feeling that the one I just sent back is going to some other unsuspecting customer. This player’s DACs sound very good, but no matter; it is incapable of doing job #1: reading the freaking disc. ... show more
