    • This adapter works great! Be very careful putting propane in low pressure butane bottles and cans.
Not sure if there was a design change along the way, or if other folks have mangled threads in their propane bottles? Either way, the ones currently shipping are machined perfectly. The reverse thread brass adapter threaded into all of my propane tanks extremely smoothly. The small valve on the end holds without leaking as well. The aluminum hex nut shaped 1lb propane to lindel valve adapter is also machined perfectly and works great to both run my butane lamps and stoves on propane, as well as refill my 1lb propane bottles. that being said, expect to wait a LONG time if using this for refilling propane bottles. I drilled the hole larger after removing the set screw to increase flow. To be clear, the set screw pushes the valve inside of the small propane tanks and is required to fill them at all. The hole that needs to be enlarged is the one on the side rather than the hole the set screw itself goes into. I drilled it to 1.75mm. I unscrew the set screw far enough to clear that hole completely which leaves it sticking out pretty far, but this has not been an issue while filling the small tanks. To use it for running a butane device on said small propane tank I put the set screw all the way back in to reduce gas rate as intended. This is nice as it keeps things like lamps an stoves from turning into massive fireballs when on the increased propane pressure as compared to butane. One thing to point out is that there is no valve in this propane adapter! Do NOT connect it to a propane bottle without first screwing on a butane device or screwing it onto the refill arm. That is unless you want to purge the propane from the small bottle, it will come out at the rate limited by the set screw which could potentially be very fast if you have it loosened. The twist lock 8oz N-butane can adapter that converts to lindel iso-butane thread also works great, and this one even has a valve in it so you can leave it on the can with nothing attached. Buy with confidence, the kit works fine and the threads are all correct and perfectly machined. Beware though, you should not put propane into the 8oz stove canisters. Propane gas has a much higher pressure to temperature coefficient than butane. Especially N-butane. I've put some in a can in an area that would be safe were it to trigger the overpressure safety and vent, but I will never use that can in a stove or other way in which it will be warmed in operation. The propane at cool temperatures is within a safe pressure for even those cans, but will very quickly go way beyond the cans limits if warmed up. You can put propane in the flat bottom dome shaped threaded cans, but again be EXTREMELY careful about keeping them from being warmed up after. Using an ultra light little titanium stove on top where the fire and cooking vessel are close can and will cause the can to explode when it gets hot. These cans can blow up when used incorrectly even with the original 30% propane 70% isobutane mix. Regardless if you refill those cans or not, always maintain the minimum required flame size when using those stoves, and if your stove allows, put as little water in the neck around the threaded attachment after connecting your stove. As that water boils away (add more to keep it full) it will prevent the temperature from going as high and also prevent the valve inside from melting. ... show more

I only used the adapter to fill camping stove bottles with propane from a 20 lb tank but it worked. The flimsy valve tended to leak liquid propane and ice up though. Wear gloves and be careful (I hope it’s obvious that this sort of thing should only be done outside in the open away from any structures and flames/sparks). ... show more

    • The silver piece to refill 1lb tanks is a piece!
The adapter to refill 1lb propane tanks doesn't screw into the shut off valve portion anywhere remotely well enough for this to be worth it. Was trying to save money instead I'm wasting gas to the wind! If it was close or just a small amount of leakage I would make do but it's like this thing is just a fraction too small, it wobbles, and it never gets snug. As you can figure out, for this task, that makes it pretty much useless. It doesn't appear to be stripped as threads look decent on both sides. Everything except the silver 1Lb convertor is the cheapest feeling junk you'll ever hold, I can't believe it works for some. I couldn't even guess what its made of, all I know is it’s lighter than a feather, which is a shame because the end that goes into the big tank is decent, heavy enough brass that it forms a good connection and seal. The shut off valve is pretty cheap and sketchy to use as well. Now here comes the hassle of having to sort this out. Wish I would have just spent a little more money. ... show more

I refuel my iso tanks with these. They work well. I also refill my green 1lb propane TANKS as well. They work well. Remember to put your empty tanks in the freezer for about 30 mins prior to filling. This will enable you to fill them up 95% of the way.

    • Use a large wrench to install, it will work
A little bit of muscle and a large wrench! It’s not ment to be hand tightened. Works great no leaks.
