Features

  • Record without a Cabinet: HT-5R MK III has in-built load protection; this means you can use the head for direct USB recording or headphone practice without the need for a connected cabinet
  • Studio Quality Reverb: The studio quality reverb has been referenced against the most revered vintage and modern reverb units, designed to perfectly complement guitar tones
  • State-Of-The-Art Voicing Circuitry: Each Voice switch makes radical and extensive circuit changes in both the preamp and the power amp, including the EQ voicing, the tone stack position in the circuit
  • Full Tone, Low Volumes: The HT-5R MK III is designed to create a full sound even at the lowest of volumes. This is achieved by using a single dual-triode valve as a push-pull power stage just like a 100W stack

  • My favorite amp yet
Model: HT5RMK3
I own a Marshall 10/20watt tube head paired to an Orange 2x12 cabinet , a fender modeling amp , and this Blackstar .5/5watt. This is the amp I grab 90% of the time. The Marshall I grab the other 10%. The fender has become a spare/loaner. Don’t get me wrong , if I had a very large practice space the Marshall/orange combo would get more use. However , I share a 1000sqft space with other people. The Marshall has a 10 watt setting , but even at 10 watts it’s just way to loud for my space most of the time. This blackstar set on the .5 watt setting is amazing for me. The tone is cranking rock tone , but the volume is very tolerable for everyone in the house. Speaking of the tone , it’s terrific. Bear in mind that I am not an audiophile. Just a regular guy that loves rock and dirty blues music. For those 2 sounds this thing totally rips. If you’re looking for a low wattage practice amp or something for a smaller playing space this could be just the ticket. I know it meets all my needs. I’d like to add that even though rock and blues are my primary genres , I love playing acoustic and own a Taylor that sounds terrific through this amp. ... show more

  • Perfect dad amp for me.
Model: HT5RMK3
For me this is a near perfect dad amp for home use. It’s plenty loud for the living room, most of the time I have it on the 1/2 watt setting with the gain about halfway or less and the volume less than 1/4 of the way up. It’s nice to have the different voicing switch. The eq knobs are a little not what I expected, they seem like the actively boost or cut the high, med, low frequencies instead of how the tone knobs work on other amps. I love the aux in to be able to hookup my iPad for some backing rhythm (using the patterning app or GarageBand for some drums). I really don’t use the clean channel all that much, I just turn down the gain on the drive channel and/or fiddle with the guitar volume knob to clean it up. Downside is that it is a little pricey. ... show more

  • Worked great for two months then crapped out with no help from Amazon or the seller.
Model: HT5RMK3
I purchased this amplifier on March 1 and it worked great. And then on April 24 for no reason it started buzzing with no response from the Guitar. No help from Amazon except wanting to charge me a $150 restocking fee. No response from the seller after I gave them a serial number. Used multiple high-quality cables to test as well as a Fender Custom Shop stratocaster. I am had zero exposure to any elements outside of being on a table top in a bedroom. Very unsatisfied with the support from both the seller and Amazon. I definitely would recommend buying a protection plan if you plan on buying this amp. ... show more

  • This amp does it all
Model: HT5RMK3
The Blackstar HT5R MKII 5-Watt 1x12 Inches Tube Combo Amp with Reverb has fantastic sound, even at low volume. The 12 inch speaker sounds amazing. It has every output and input you could want. It has an effects loop. It's a tube amp! I have been using amp modelling pedals and IRs, and this thing is just SWEET sounding. It's a real tube amp with a real 12 inch speaker! The real deal. Wow. I use the clean channel, with my best drive pedals, and this baby sings. Delay and reverb in the effects loop, never sounded better. Like a pro. Just wow man. ... show more

  • so this is good for Ozzy, Dio, Black Sabbath sorta sound
Model: HT5RMK3
the clean sound is beautiful but I guess I am going to need a distortion pedal to get a Metallica type sound as this is too round bubbly and not crunchy enough for Metal, so it's a great Blues amp, and a good Heavy Metal amp but not Thrash Metal

  • Excellent for apartments.
Model: HT5RMK3
I was looking for a good apartment tube amp and this one is perfect for me! Takes pedals very well. Clean tones are clean and the crunch is VERY good. Would recommend.

  • Classic lack of quality control from Blackstar
Model: HT5RMK3
I have always loved the sound of Blackstar amps. This one is no different. The ability to knock the power down to .5w is an awesome feature, so I couldn't wait to get one. Why two stars? Buying a Blackstar amp is playing a game of chance with your paycheck. Some folks get them and never have an issue, the rest of us, not so lucky. I'm getting the same 'crackling' sound I got out of the older HT-5, and the HT-20. Do a quick Google search on "Blackstar amp crackling sound" and you'll find tons of people that are absolutely sick of these things. Also, just like the old HT-5, when you use the footswitch to change channels, you better not have any sound coming out of it. Otherwise you'll get a nice loud POP like you just blew a fuse. Why do all this redesigning and "upgrading", but continue to use the same $#%@ electronics on the inside? It's a shame. The fact that it's the same exact issues they've had going on for years, tells me they're not even pretending to listen to customer feedback. They've lost a ridiculous amount of customers because of this. ... show more

  • Pretty cool tube amp; I was looking for something with heavier sound
Model: HT5RMK3
Cool, compact, and 12" speaker. Well known and trusted brand, sounded pretty great when played through Les Paul and Fender Jazzmaster. My main issue/point of return was that it wasn't quite heavy metal enough. I've been looking for that real djent/chug sound that I could play in an apt. without disturbing the neighbors, and although this amp was very good and fun to play with, it didn't quite meet my needs. Also, all the connections and plugs are hidden in the back and bottom, behind the speaker; which is tricky to get to and would be better if it was just all exposed facing backwards. Otherwise, I'd get this amp again, maybe as a Head only and put on a speaker cabinet - cool tones, but not what I'm seeking right now. ... show more
