The small mechanism that enables the jack to raise and lower, sorry can't remember the correct name for that small mechanism. Blows oil all over my garage floor, not a small leak but a major failure with this part. Another major problem with this jack, the one I purchased, there is no control over how fast, gentle, the car is set back on its wheels. Upon lowering the car, I turned the small mechanism very slightly counter clockwise, and the car literally fell to the floor. Disappointed!! I thought I got a pretty good jack at a reasonable price. I will rebuild my 45-year-old 2-ton floor jack. Buyer Be Aware you (we) get what we pay for. ... show more

I read some of the negative reviews and it sounds like operator error. Although you may be all- knowing, read the instructions! Bleed the jack as described. Takes 5 min. Make sure the valve is closed tightly. Take a hammer or a vise and squeeze down the handle at the hour glass shaped end of the handle for a firm fit on the close valve. The handle is a good but not great but an easy fix hence the 4 stars. For the negative reviews that said the jack sinks under load, it was probably because the jack was not properly bled or the close valve not closed tightly. Jacks are designed to raise the vehicle high enough to put jack stands under the vehicle not fulltime storage under a vehicle while in use. Never use a jack of any price or brand to hold up a vehicle without stands. Bottom line - this jack does the job. I use it in my garage for my low stance Vette and it is small enough to throw in the trunk for road trips for vehicles without a spare. (obviously buy a spare too) The jack will lift most vehicles if used correctly but will not lift a highly raised vehicle because it does not have the range. Buy this if you are an average person that needs a jack for most cars, SUV's and low vehicles factory or modified. When used properly you will not be disappointed. ... show more
