Had an issue with the “bowl” of the chiminea. Contacted the seller. They were extremely helpful. The “bowl” had a large crack in it. My husband didn’t notice until it was completely assembled. Company said they would take it back or I could accept a partial refund. We opted for the refund as it would be difficult to take apart and repack and carry to the store to return (it’s 60 lbs). Hopefully, the crack won’t have an impact on its function. It’s a nice chiminea and the box showed no sign of damage…very strange. I buy chimineas every four or five years as the old ones wear and rust out. This is my third cast iron chiminea, and I have never seen one with better, clearer assembly instructions or such an economy of parts. Very easy to put together (although it still took about 1 hour) and all the holes lined up right. Not heavy to move. Well-packed in the box. I'm going to go ahead and give it a prospective five stars on all counts, and I'll update if it proves to be less durable than expected over time. ... show more

    • Needs a beter draft.
I replaced a similar appearing unit that was seven years old. I purchased the new unit from BH&G thru Amazon. The packaging was great, no damaged parts. Assembly was easy, instructions were well written and illustrations were clear. I have burned in it three times now and what I have noticed is it does not get a good draft. I burn oak in the unit. The oak is split and dry and is a minimum of two years old. The problem I see with the unit is, 1. It did not come with a fire grate. The wood will sit flat on the metal bottom. I have a grate that fits well into the unit and allows two inches of clearance between the bottom and the grate. 2. The flu is restrictive. Where the dome of the unit joins the flared chimney it is bolted together similar to a flange. 3. I will cut a hole in the bottom pan to allow a better draft. There is nothing I can see to do about the flu restriction but I feel that with a better draft it may work better. Chris ... show more

Looks great, but the door is not easily secured, and there is nowhere for the ash to go, you have to sweep that out, and it's an awkward process. Had I known, I would have purchased something else for the money.

    • Product Failed After Only2 Uses - Not Durable as Advertised
The Antique Bronze Cast Iron Chiminea looks good but after only 2 fires the fire pit cracked which was unexpected since it is a fire pit and containing fire is an expectation. I contacted the vendor and by phone and found that they do not answer their phone. I sent a request for service and received no reply. I then contacted Amazon and they sent the vendor a request for service. Once again no reply - I have been waiting for 10 days and finally I called Amazon who finally resolved my issues without the vendors assistance. I do not recommend buying anything from this vendor based upon my experience and their lack of customer service. ... show more

Amazon sent me two of these by mistake, lol. Took all of 10 minutes to assemble. Looks to be sturdy. Looking forward to trying out both of them in the fall.
