B-air makes great products & I was sick of plastic fans that make it a short while before having any number of issues. Fans that only cost $10-$20.00 less than this one. Are you looking for a quality, all metal fan that can move an incredible amount of air? This might be the fan of your dreams! Do you have a desire to not hear *anything* but the sound of a prop driven airplane taking off Even on it's lowest setting? (Low- single engine Cessna. Med- dual engine Cessna. High- 747 at takeoff or standard sightseeing helicopter idling up.) If so, this IS the fan for you! Didn't think a fan so narrow could make this much noise, but, colour me surprised. I'm not noise sensitive to fans, but this sucker puts out the decibels. All kidding aside- It's well made & is indeed *high velocity*. I would not recommend it for general in home use unless you're doing something like a full ventilation or drying out after flooding, painting etc. (I have a high velocity blower fan & it's MUCH quieter, however the outflow is exceedingly concentrated. For drying a whole room/floor/walls etc this B-Air fan is **hands down** the go to!) Not ideal for exercise either. Unless you wear earplugs. Then, cyclists & runners? You, too, can have the wind tunnel experience in home on your trainer/treadmill... If you want to know what riding/running in a cat 1 hurricane headwind feels like- crank this puppy up. It's simply too loud to use if you're going to be in close proximity to it. Workshop/garage in the heat? This would be AWESOME! Cooling area at a sporting event? PERFECT. It's stable & has a narrow profile for it's size & awesome power. DO NOT purchase this model for use in apartment or multi family living- Especially if you have hard flooring. The vibration & noise will drive you out. Highly padded Carpet might be better, but not by much. Your neighbours &/or family will NEVER, ever, forgive you- & likely will move closer to the nearest airport- it'll be quieter. (If you have close neighbours? Say within a 1/4 mile or so, don't put it in your window at 2 AM, just trust me on this.) Overall it's a great fan. Just loud, extremely so, for what it is. BUT it is *incredibly* efficient, a great value for your money! It has a narrow profile, yet puts out far more air flow than other fans twice it's size. It's stable & highly adjustable position wise. Could easily be mounted via brackets on a wall, beam or such. (Just be sure if you do, whatever it's mounted to is solid & not affected by heavy vibration!) & is made well enough I fear this fan will likely out live me... EXCELLENT for those family gatherings or events where you truly don't want to hear anything anyone has to say, all while staying cool. Beats out the big barn/agricultural drum fans twice it's size for air movement & is on par or better than a positive pressure vent van on air exchanged. Great fan if you’d like white noise. There are three settings, Powerful, Crazy Powerful, and I can’t believe that thing just knocked two pictures off the wall!!! Definitely not intended for small spaces.

    • Is a shield better? I don't know
This fan shows up alongside the Lasko 2265QM when you search for 20-inch fans on Amazon. They look fairly similar, so why does this fan cost so much less--$39 vs $62 for the B-air? Having recently bought one of each, here's my observations. Similarities: 1. Dimensions, pivoting ability, weight. They seem similarly constructed initially. 2. Apparent effectiveness in moving air. Both have three speeds, both seem to put out air well. If anything, in a subjective test the B-air seems a bit more powerful. But again, this was subjective... 3. Construction. Both have metal shrouds, metal blades, rubber shock absorbers connecting fan to stand to keep vibration down and grounded three-prong plugs at the end of substantial cords. Differences which might explain the difference in price: 1. The Lasko has a front-mounted speed control. The B-air has its speed control mounted directly on the motor and can only be controlled from the back. 2. The Lasko comes with a substantial wall mounting plate. The B-air says it can be mounted on the wall, but doesn't include a fixture for doing so. It's up to you to find the hardware for hanging the B-air. Also, the Lasko's front-mounted switch makes controlling it when wall-mounted more convenient. 3. The Lasko's motor is enclosed in a plastic shield at the back while the B-air exposes the metal back of its motor. Is a shield better? I don't know. One reviewer complains about hair becoming sucked into the B-air's motor. Perhaps a shield would help with this. Yet a shield is an added expense, and I would think Lasko wouldn't put one over the back of their motor if there weren't some utility in doing so. 4. The Lasko has hinged connectors for mating the two halves of the fan shroud, making it an easy tool-less job to remove the shroud and clean the blades. The B-air has screws attaching the two halves of the shroud over the blade. Conclusion: It's a crap shoot. But the B-air has a surprising number of one-star reviews which claim the fan died within months of purchase--and a number of reviewers also claim that the B-air is a generic fan sold under many names. Take the risk on the B-air and you might be happy you did. If you want to hang your fan from a wall, get the Lasko. Perhaps in a year I will know more about their reliability. Right now it's hard to judge, and the Lasko is a great deal more expensive. I say go with the B-air, but if it breaks I'll be back with an update. ... show more

This fan is strong and durable. I have dropped it already 3 times and it holds well together. It blows good strong air. The noise level is high esp on level 1 or 2. However, It is good noise to sleep with. I am very pleased with this fan.
