  • A bargain!
I noticed some buyers thought one cutting tip was about .002 too short. I'm wondering if they need to "tram in" or "square" the quill of their perpendicular to the milling table. This is a procedure that needs to be performed periodically. Worse yet, I had tilted the head of my Bridgeport to move it into my new shop. I had one of the face millcutters that APPEARED TO BE .002 high so I numbered all four cutting tips with a felt-tip pen. Haha, when I rotated the machine 180 degrees now the tip on the left hand side was STILL high but the number of the cutter was now number 4 instead of number 2. What I'm saying is it wasn't one of the Cutters which was high on the face Mill. It was the head of my milling machine that was not perfectly perpendicular to the Milling table! There are a lot of tools for trimming and a lot of videos on YouTube. I decided to order an $85. Double dial gauge tramming tool from boring research.com. There's going to be plenty of times that I want to Tilt my Milling head and I don't want to be afraid to do it or avoid tilting it. So owning a good tramming tool. Means I can Reliably return it to perpendicular. anytime I want. ... show more

  • Mine is unusable
I bought this on a whim to use on my benchtop mill. The inserts were loose in the box and two were chipped, the head almost didn't fit on the arbor and needed to be tapped on with a deadblow. The nail in the coffin is the key way cut on the arbor, it stops short and because of this it won't fit in my mill's spindle. It's pretty sad, with another three seconds worth of work this could have worked for me. I can't recommend this tool unless you want to rework it (I've been doing machine work for over fifteen years, I can easily fix this but I really shouldn't need to). ... show more

  • Met my expectations
Just received this less than an hour ago and just had to try it out. It faced a hunk of 6061 aluminum very quickly.. then I tried it on some 4140 steel and it had no issues. Of course I didn’t go deeper than .02” with my X2D mill but I’m very happy with this face mil.

  • Does surprisingly well on mild steel
It does what it's supposed to do. For the price I was skeptical, but it's actually doing really well so far. I haven't measured runout or anything yet, but I just took a test pass on 2" mild steel angle stock (using no oil) and it left a really good finish. Pretty happy with this!

  • Trash.
Accidentally ordered two but I needed all of the pieces to make one work.. One arbor had the wrong taper ground and wouldn't fit in the machine. The ears were damaged and had to be filed. The center bore on the shell mill was too tight and needed cleaned up. Between the two almost every grind angle and tolerance was different. Got one put together and it worked like it should but in general it is trash. ... show more

  • Good Value
The unit arrived in two days and was as described by the seller. I probably won't use it for it for a couple of months and so I can't offer an evaluation of how it works. However, it appears to be well made and finished and I suspect it will work fine.
