This review is for the AD246-M model (no S), denoting generally lower magnification for all the provided lenses. My intended use is for electronics inspection and assembly. I have access to a fancy triscopic setup at work, but it's complete overkill for a home hobbyist. This Andonstar scope (and specifically the non-S lenses) seem to be a great fit for what I need -- a simple yet effective home setup. I've attached pictures of how various components look with the various lenses and working distance. -The 15-60x L lens gives you a lot of vertical working space while being able to readily see small SMD's. You can use the same lens to zoom in a bit for general inspection. - The 4.5-180x A lens sacrifices vertical working space, but it is ideal for inspection. You can see large components as well as fine inspection. - The 450-510x D lenses is likely unusable for electronics since there is virtually no usable height. If you're looking at an individual SMD on the included slide holder -- you might be able to get value out of this lens. I'm very happy with this purchase at this price point, however it gets a full star off due to the aluminum arms on the stand. Simply put, they are not machined well, stick during adjustment, and are unpleasant to use. I will eventually replace them with an articulating friction arm, or "magic arm". ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I got a biochem degree and wanted an easy to use microscope for my kids. My husband and I have been fighting with this thing for a year, never being able to get anything in focus!! The “clips” don’t hold the slides and everything is so flimsy that the microscope moves all over the place. I’m unable to get anything in focus!! I’m battling cancer and just wanted to show my kids what cancer cells look like under a microscope. I wish I had returned this immediately, but I just thought it was a user error! ... show more
