Top Amazon Reviews

  • Excellent Grill - Amazing tasting food!
I purchased this on Amazon to use outside on my deck inside of a screened-in gazebo. I had read all the reviews and looked at all the other electric grills for sale. I had a nice Amazon gift certificate so I figured I didn't have too much too lose. I am so happy I bought this grill! The assembly was pretty easy, although putting the wheels on was a little tricky. I found it best to hold the wheel nut with a pair of needle nosed pliers and then hammer the nut on the axle pin. It took a few tries but I finally got them on. I let it heat up for about 10-15 minutes then I put on some salmon steaks that I had marinated in soy sauce and maple syrup. I cooked them for about 7-9 minutes with the lid down and then flipped them and cooked them another 7-9 minutes. Let me tell you, this was the best tasting salmon I have ever had! There were nice grill marks and the salmon was char-grilled to perfection (I like mine well-done). I was so excited with how the salmon cooked, after dinner I cooked some chicken breasts I had marinated in barbecue sauce. Again, great char-grilled chicken! I am sold on this electric grill after using it for only one day. Hopefully it will hold-up and continue to perform well. I recommend this grill without reservation. UPDATE: I have now had this grill for over 2 months and have used it over 20 times. I still absolutely love the way it cooks the food, but I have found a couple of issues that might bump my original review from 5 stars to 4. First, the reflector pan tends to collect some char and other "debris" from cooking that will flame-up. It's important to try to clean this periodically, which is not as easy as I would like. I have actually had to put out the flames with water on occasion. Also, the aluminum foil pan that sits under the grill to catch drippings developed a small hole which was easily fixed by lining it with some new foil - not a big deal at all. I still recommend this grill and will continue to use it 3-4 times a week! UPDATE #2: After about 3 months of very heavy use the heating element burned-out. I emailed the company and they immediately sent me a replacement heating element at no charge (thanks to the 1 year warranty). It looks like they changed the design slightly to avoid future problems. As long as I had the thing torn apart I figured it was time to do a thorough cleaning of the aluminum reflector which had gobs of baked on char build-up. I soaked it in the sink and then used a wide blade screwdriver to scrape off all the gunk. It took a little bit of effort but was well worth it to keep this grill working its best. I still think this is a great grill from a great company that stands behind its product! ... show more

  • Absolute the best electric grill on the market.
I did a lot of research before settling on this electric grill We live in a condo that does not allow any propane grills. The Meco grill makes a very good stand-in for a propane grill, but definitely does not replace it 100%. Still, considering our limitations for where we live, this has made us very happy. After a few weeks, it has paid for itself in use. Very easy to clean and somewhat easy to assemble. The manual that comes with this is an "all models" manual, making it somewhat confusing. Still, follow the instructions carefully and you'll get through it. Back to cleaning. I followed the instructions of another reviewer in that I always line the base with foil. Be careful not to have too much foil that can catch flames. Line the entire bottom and clean every other use, and you're good to go! Easy breezey. The grill rack is also easy to clean. I soak it in the sink for a little bit and then clean it off. Get one of those none scratchy brushes (OXO has a good one). A regular grill brush will ruin this grill and rack. Brush the element and let it burn on high for a about 10 minutes (per the instructions). This grill will give you a slight char, but again, will not replace the kind of char you get in a charcoal or gas grill. It stores well and is pretty compact when you fold down the sides. I love the side tables. It is sooo hard to find an electril grill with side tables like this. I could not recommend this grill enough to you. The only draw back so far is the temperature is hard to keep on high. Does not get hot equal to a grill or chargoal, but I've had it past 500 degrees, but for a short period of time. Note: This draw back is not enough for me to knock off any stars. It is still worth every penny. Wait for it on sale during the winter. Good deal! ... show more

  • It Will Take Some Time
Like most people who have purchased an electric grill, I have purchased mine because my condo won't allow charcoal (which has always been my go-to method for grilling). I purchased this grill because I have two friends who highly recommended it. I was considering the Weber Q140 which has great reviews, but it was too expensive, and the cart made it even more so. I also considered the Charbroil, but the reviews were very mixed. The set up of this grill was slightly difficult. It's not an item you can quickly put together, but if you follow the instructions, and are patient, it's not all that difficult. I put it together alone, and it probably took me about two hours. The bulk of that time was spent making sure I understood each step before actually attempting that step. Once together, it's a nice looking grill, and the shelves are a great feature. I have it for about a week and I've made a grilled chicken breast, a turkey burger, and a grilled sausage. The chicken and the turkey was okay. The grill does get hot, and was able to get some nice grill marks on each. I probably could have done a better job at seasoning, but the taste was lacking that distinctive grilled flavor. The sausage, on the other hand, was really good. I think that the foods that have a little more grease and fat will taste just fine, while your leaner meats may need a little more care. I still need to test that theory more, but that's my observations so far. I haven't tried the dual heat method, or the indirect method, but those are nice options to have. I lined the bottom of the grill with foil to help with the clean up later. I have cleaned the grates, and that doesn't seem to difficult. The reflector pan seems as if it will get filthy, and I'm not sure of the best way to handle that. I want to put foil there too, but not sure if that's dangerous or if it defeats the purpose of that pan. It looks difficult to take off, so I'll have to think of something. All in all, this is a nice addition to my balcony. I'd love to have a charcoal grill, but I think with sometime, this will be almost (I stress almost) as good. ... show more
