I have only used this product seldomly. I do plan on using it to fix my car's front bumper but for smaller projects that I have used this for, it works amazing. For example, on my protein shaker cup, the lock latch that closes the mouth piece on the lid snapped when it fell (it was a post workout session and I accidentally opened it too strongly). Heartbroken, I thought I would need to purchase another lid ... until I remember I had this plastic welder. I was able to staple the broke piece back to the latch and now it can reattach to the lid! This was my first project working with the plastic welder and it was easy to use. The build quality is strong. It heats up fast. It is easy to use. Is there anything more I need to say? My only gripe is that the wire cutter that it comes with is a bit lacking and its use is for more larger, plastic pieces. For smaller things, like cutting off the portions of the staple that stick out, I would use another tool. Other than that, this tool works great and if you consider yourself a DIYer, you should give this tool a try! ... show more

Works well enough but have to hit it several times in palm or on workbench to get the thing to turn on. I have a project that I simply have to get done so I'm not sending it back, I can limp it through. And the trimming knife they include with the kit breaks in first use, worthless. I would suggest buying a different brand, I know I am. I do like that it comes with several types of plastic welding rods, I've already used half the abs plastic and polycarbonate rods. Seller promptly sent replacement unit. Trimming knife again quite fragile, but works. Problem with gun staying on resolved. Have a big project with a farm tractor roof made of polypropylene that will rest durability, we will see how that goes. Kit does not label the type of plastic that is in the large bundles of black and multicolor plastic rods that are provided, however. Edited review to four stars for trimming knife quality and labeling. ... show more

Originally I bought this to repair a thick plastic cover for some gym equipment, but I've used it for everything from dashboards and bumpers to keychains and cooler lids. KEEP IN MIND. You're never gonna get a perfect finish with just this. No matter how flush your flush cutters are, you're always gonna have two small metal spikes from the staples pointing out. This is inherent in the design, and you shouldn't expect whatever you're repairing to be exactly as it was. If you have a crack that you've fixed and you need to fill in a gap, you can use zip ties as filler material. Feels a lot like really slow TIG welding. The duty cycle (how long you can use the tool before it needs to turn off to cool down) isn't very long, but to be honest that's for the best since you'll most likely be breathing in melting plastic fumes while using it. Let's be honest, you're not gonna go run a second extension cord for a fan, you're gonna grab this and say "proper ventilation? Never even met her". The only two complaints I have are the included side cutters that won't even cut plastic, the jaws are so misaligned it's actually hilarious, wall of shame quality for sure. The other thing is the absolutely huge size of the "spatula" type attachments for smoothing/shaping plastic. They bend so easily with quite literally zero effort. I did a small bead roll down the sides while leaving the tip intact and this solved the problem immediately. Both of these issues are coming from someone who knew this would be a thing right out of the gate, so it was expected on my end. Overall pretty satisfied. The tool has done everything I've asked of it, and I'm only starting to run out of staples a few months later. ... show more

Love it so far. Already fixed a couple of things. Probably gonna use it to fix some bumpers on a car here soon. Not sure on longevity, but if you can get $30 worth of fixing it's payed for itself kind of. I didn't use filler.except in one spot missing a chunk of plastic. Kind of a rough look, but makes broken plastic usable again. I'm sure if you used filler and sanded you could have a cleaner look. ... show more
