It works exactly as described. I fill the bucket with food scraps (cutting up kale stalks, lemon rinds or celery into smaller pieces), and when it's done composting, there's around a cup or two of dried compost. Mine doesn't look like dark earth, but more like brown or golden humus. It has a smell while it's cooking, but that doesn't bother me at all because the container I keep the scraps in (waiting to fill the compost bin) smells far worse! Also my garbage doesn't stink anymore, and in the summer that was always a problem. You can use the composter in your garage or porch if the smell bothers you. The appliance is sturdy, heavy, and well made, simple to use. I've had it for a month and used it at least 5 times a week because I eat a lot of vegetables. I definitely recommend. ... show more

I have my machine operating 1 to 2 times daily for a household of 2 people. It is perfect for our needs. It works fast and is very easy to clean. I just leave the bucket in the sink with some water and stuff comes off easily after soaking. No bad smells. I put the resulting dehydrated mixture in the food processor for a finer chop, collect it in a covered bucket on my counter (again, no smell because now it is dehydrated), then I spread it in my garden soil when the bucket is full. I sure hope it is keeping the worms happy! I also bought a second bucket and matching cover, so I always have a bucket to use when one batch is processing in the machine. I did decide to rotate the machine 90 degrees so the air exiting faces out towards the kitchen, once I saw some condensation occurring on an adjacent piece of furniture. This occurred because the air exiting the machine is warm and moist. Once I turned the machine, there was no problem whatsoever. Also, I have not seen any problems with what was spread into the garden soil attracting any animals like squirrels, rats, bear etc. so far after one and 1/2 months of use. I highly recommend this machine, especially if you want to minimize what goes to the landfill or through your garbage disposal. I feel like I have better control over recycling my vegetable food waste. It says you can put meat and cheese into the machine, but I don’t do that. Hope you consider buying one of the machines, you won’t regret it. There is excellent customer service and a Facebook group for the machine as well. Living in California, we are encouraged to compost our food scraps rather than throwing them into the garbage and adding to the landfills. But the traditional composting, using an outside bin, with the smell, potential to attracting insects and varmints, and all of the turning was not for me. I wanted something quick and easy! I kept hearing about the Lomi countertop composter on my True Crime podcasts so decided to check it out! But, after checking, I decided the price of the Lomi was way too much! I then started looking at other options and reading all of the reviews. That is when I found the Airthereal Composter! I'm so glad I did!! I ordered the machine on Sunday, knowing it wouldn't arrive until Wednesday. I immediately began saving all of my food scraps in a countertop scrap bin. After reading reviews and tips, I learned that it was important that the mixture be a combination of wet and dry material. I was walking my dog and came upon a pile of dry pine needles and knew this was the perfect dry material! I used my extra poo bags to gather a nice supply! ☺️ Finally, my machine arrived on Wednesday! I took some of my saved food scraps and put them in the bucket. I then added some of the pine needles. The bucket is relatively small and only holds a few cups of scraps. It is probably a days worth in our home, which is perfect as I prefer not to keep scraps longer than a day I turned on the machine and was amazed at how quiet it was! You had to listen closely to hear it running. There was absolutely no smell so I can run it on our kitchen counter while watching TV in the adjoining family room. Five hours later, I noticed the machine was off so I opened it and I have mulch!! It only makes about a cup of mulch but I usually have enough food scraps to run it at least once a day. So I will have a constant supply of mulch for my potted plants, and eventually, my flower beds. And best of all, I will no longer be throwing food waste in the garbage! I have attached pictures of the food scraps in the bucket before and after adding the dry needles to give you an idea of the wet/dry mixture I used. I also attached a picture of the machine buttons when I started the machine. The next pictures show the beautiful mulch I created and the bucket after emptying the mulch. Although the manual doesn't give a lot of information, it does list what should and should not be put in the composter. What is really nice is that you receive an extra 6 month extended warranty when you register your machine. I am very happy with my purchase and so will my plants be! It is incredible how easy it makes composting! And as a bonus, it is fun! If you are considering buying a countertop composter and comparing models, I highly recommend the Airthereal Composter! It does exactly what you expect without any noise, smell or mess! Just do it!! ... show more

This is a great machine to help you get rid of vegetables and fruit scraps. I don’t recommend putting any meat or fish or egg shells in it or oily things. It does take coffee grounds well. The product is dehydrated and shredded matter. It’s good for mixing into existing compost. The end product is still given to mold. It is good for the impatient.
