From a safety standpoint as well as ease of use, this electric kettle performs well, and I made some observations and took measurements. The 2.5ft long power cord is stamped with "(UL) SJT 16AWG 300V" with a non-polarized male plug resembling a NEMA 5-15P although not specified with known markings other than "UL". The Intertek label on the power base shows "900-1100W" and "Conforms to UL STD 1082" which is the correct UL specification for this type of household device. The kettle glass appears flawless and of uniform thickness with 0.5L (MIN), 1.0L and 1.7L (MAX) markings on two opposite sides, the plastic parts are of smooth and flat/satin finishes with no mold separation flash, and the base containing the heating element and LED has an outer plastic cover with the same Intertek label. The LED lamp(s?) in the kettle base reflect off a prismed o-ring lens that appears to be part of the glass flask bottom. The handle has an upper push switch which opens the spring-loaded cover, and a lower rocker switch with "I" and "O" positions for power. Electrical power is made with a circular female connector in the center of the kettle base which seats on a male connector centered on the power base. I followed the instructions and twice operated the kettle with a full (MAX) 1.7L fill up. Using cool tap water measured at 68F, the kettle took exactly 9.0 minutes to reach a rolling boil measured at 211-212F using both an infrared non-contact thermometer and a probe type immersion thermometer. The kettle automatically shuts off after about 20 seconds at full boil and a small screen attachment on the lid behind the pour spout prevents splashing of water outside of the kettle during boiling and also acts as a baffle to prevent flow surges while pouring. Removing the kettle from the base is a simple lift-up motion off the power base and the power base does not conduct any significant heat. I never needed a kettle until I got sick and all I could think of was some hot tea. This kettle had good reviews and a good price so I went for it. The kettle was ready to go as soon as I got it - I opened the box, followed the quick and easy cleaning instructions and set her to work. I must admit, I didn't care at all about the light when I bought it, but when I fired it up, it was pretty cool. A note: when I was looking at reviews myself, I noticed some that said it didn't heat up quickly. I'm not really sure what they're going on about - it heats up fast, lights up, and has an automatic turn-off. And a good price. ... show more

This tea-kettle was delivered at 2:39 PM this afternoon, after running it thru 2 water cycles to clean the machine of any residual dust I started a half full pot for a cup of tea and after that boiled, I heard a snap and saw that the glass was cracked near the bottom base. At 3:10 PM I requested a refund which was promptly approved by Amazon. I think that the glass is too thin. I was really looking forward to this new kettle but I will investigate another brand. ... show more

Just got this kettle, took over 7 minutes to boil half pot of water...cord does not retract into base...although it says it’s glass, feels like plastic...not very happy with this purchase. Update I d cider to return this product, the handle got too hot to hold the last time I used it....

I've been looking to replace my old metal stove-top kettle for quite sometime now, as I'm often trying to get a good quick cup of coffee on the go especially in the mornings, but that old stove-top kettle takes over 10 minutes to bring to a boil. I swear, boiling water in a pot is fast than that old kettle. It doesn't make sense, but I swear it's true! I finally decided to make the upgrade to an electric kettle, and after doing some research I settled on glass over stainless steel and plastic. I simply didn't like the idea of having boiling water I'm putting in my body every single day anywhere near plastics even if they were BPA-free, and stainless steel really is the most durable option but also tends to rust after some time. After researching glass kettles, this one seemed like the best balance between price and reputation. In fact, this was one of the few products I checked that had A ratings on both fakespot and reviewmeta, which are websites for identifying products with fake reviews and manipulated reputations, publishing reliability grades on product reviews and Amazon product reputations. It's been about 3 weeks now, and so far, it's been an absolutely wonderful purchase. Combined with my new coffee grinder and my new metal drip coffee filter, my mornings have improved significantly! If you are looking for a nice glass electric kettle at a reasonable price, I would definitely recommend giving this one a try. ... show more

First off... Amazon, are you ok mate? Flavor?! You want me to rank the value of the FLAVOR of my hot pot? Fine, 1 star. Tastes like blue. I've had it for a couple months now. It sees regular use. It's a hot pot. It boils water quickly, and I assume more efficiently than my microwave or stove. It looks fine sitting on my counter, so there it lives. It's clear glass, with black plastic, and a shiny stainless steel heating base(just like in the pictures!) The pretty blue light works well to highlight all the dancing bubbles that arrive when in use. It's also an easy indicator to tell when it's reached it's max temp, and has shut off. Which is also nice. When it shuts off the switch makes an audible sound. Not jarring, but enough if you're in the room, you'll hear it's done without having to look. I usually don't let it go this long. It's easy to see when it's reached a hard boil, or wherever you want to stop it to harvest your water. The handle is big and easy to hold. The lid also pops open with the push of a button, though this is not needed to pour. It easily lifts off, and sets back down on the base. It's easy to clean. With the lid popped open I can fit my hand and sponge in there. No fancy specialty brushes needed. ... show more
