  • Great hair color!!
Style: Hair Color Dye Color: 3V Darkest Plum Brown
I love this hair color and it is exactly as it was pictured, and is not drying, my hair out!! Very easy to use, and definitely recommend!! I was just looking for something different because I have been a blonde for many years and then with my natural hair color the gray started coming through so this was a great change. My husband loves it.!! ... show more

  • Came out much better than salon!!
Style: Hair Color Dye Color: 3NN Darkest Intense Brown
I've been getting my hair colored at the salon due to some greys on my temple. I thought I'd try doing it myself to save money :) I'm glad I did some research and found this product, because it came out perfect! I have naturally black fine hair with some brown tones. I also have old highlights, which I have been told many times that they don't usually color over it since it will just fade and the highlight will show through again. I went with the 3NN, even though I've been reading to go 1 to 2 shades lighter and also read a review that said their hair turned jet black. So my hair did turn pretty black, but I'd rather go darker than lighter to see how the color will turn out on my hair. In the future, I may mix the 3NN with some 4N. The process was simple enough with the right tools, but I can definitely use improvement in application. So I didn't read whether it should be measured by weight vs. volume. I ended up doing volume (which I later read it should be by weight) - it still turned out well. I started putting the color in the grays, then all over the roots. After 30 min., I went ahead and colored the rest of my hair with the old highlights, and left it for another 10 min. Right before shampooing, I spread the color all around my hair. I didn't by the starter kit, so I used L’Oréal Paris Moisture Sulfate Free Shampoo and Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate Intensive Treatment. I had to rinse a couple of times until the water ran clear. With that, my hair came out quite soft after blow drying. It's been a week now and the color has not faded. My hair is also not overly dry or damaged (just what is expected with color). Also, there was no stinging on my scalp, which I always had at the salon! I know my greys will grow out (already seeing it after a week), but I'm happy I'm able to save at least $50 in doing this at home vs. the salon. ... show more

  • I use this every 6 weeks
Style: Hair Color Dye Color: 8NN Medium Intense Blonde
I have been using this for about 10 years. I am completely white headed- I have no grey hair left! I just do the roots with a level 8- Ash Blonde. White hair is very resistant to take color so I never pull the color out to the ends, but the ends pick up the right amount of color anyway.

  • Salon quality product at an excellent price
Style: Hair Color Dye Color: 8NNV Medium Intense Neutral Violet Blonde
This is the exact color I needed. I got my hair done at a salon in Michigan. They used this product on me and I absolutely loved it and likes how it made my hair look and feel after coloring with this product. Luckily I wrote the information down and ordered it right on Amazon and thus arrived today. I'm very excited. The price is fantastic for the quality. I highly reccomend this color brand because it's Salon quality at a fantastic value. It lasts up to 8 weeks, the color quality is always beautiful. Product is easy to use and spreads evenly and smoothly. Please know to get the developer separately. This is only for the color. I use a 30 developer 1:1 ratiio with mine because I have many greys to cover. Thank you ... show more

  • 9AA Double Ash will likely turn your light or medium blonde hair green
Style: Hair Color Dye Color: 9AA Double Ash
TL;DR - this color has a lot of green in it and is not meant for light or medium blondes. It's probably best for light brown or dark blonde hair with strong orange/red tones. I've used Age Beautiful permanent color before and liked it. This review is for the particular shade, not the color line itself. I am now transitioning to my natural gray, and my stylist previously performed a gray blending service. After a color remover and lightening service, the ends of my hair are somewhere between a Level 7 and Level 8 blonde. I regularly tone with a purple-blue conditioner to remove the yellow and orange tones and give it the ashy gray color that blends with my natural gray. I love the look, but it's a lot of maintenance. I don't always have 15 minutes to stand in the shower and let my tinted conditioner do its thing, so I was hoping to shortcut the process with the 9AA Double Ash. My stylist gave me a good refresher education on color theory and what colors cancel each other, and she told me that I could either maintain with a purple-blue product at home or come back to her for monthly toning services. I opted to try at-home maintenance, and over the past year I have learned a lot about gray color products. They are typically based on one of two base colors...purple (which counteracts yellow tones), and blue (which counteracts orange tones). If you choose a gray product with the wrong base color for the tones in your hair, then you are going to end up with a big hair color oops. Knowing this, I reached out to Age Beautiful's customer care to ask which base they used in the 9AA Ash Blonde. They responded that this color has a gray AND green base, and they didn't tell me if it was a purple gray or a blue gray. I know that a lot of ash colors have at least a little green in them, and it didn't matter to me if it was purple or blue-based gray since I have both yellow and orange tones. Instead of asking more questions as I should have, I thought I would try it. I applied it to my processed ends only, and while the color was developing, it looked like it was doing what I wanted. And it is definitely a blue-based gray. But once I rinsed and dried, the green tint showed up with a vengeance. This color was a lot greener than I was expecting, and because my hair is porous from previous services, it sucked it all up. Cue slight panic and immediate internet searching to find the appropriate, red-tinted product to now tone out the green without messing up my gray. Thank goodness for the advice that clarifying shampoo sometimes helps, and I immediately washed in my Olaplex 4C clarifying shampoo. It got a lot of the green out on the first wash because the hair cuticle had not closed yet, and I wore my hair up for a few days to hide my greenish ends before another round of clarifying shampoo. The green all came out by the second wash. In the end, the color did tone out the orange from my hair, so I couldn't be mad. But it did leave the yellow behind (expected), so I still had to follow-up with another purple toner again to address that. This shade didn't save me any time/maintenance or provide the amazing gray color shown by the manufacturer. But that's because this color wasn't right for my starting color, and I had to learn the hard way. The 9AA Double Ash Blonde shade really isn't for anyone in the light to medium blonde range. And that's a shame for those of us who lightened our hair specifically to color it gray and were hoping to avoid the constant upkeep. If you really want to understand your current hair color tones and what tones will work with your hair to give you the look you want, I love Ugly Duckling's Hair Color Levels and Undertones and Neutralizing Colors charts. According to them, the blue/green combo in this color is likely best for light brown or dark blonde hair with strong orange tones. If you are lighter than that or do not have orange/red tones in your hair, your hair will likely turn green with this shade. ... show more
