Recently, I decided to convert a room of my house into a workout room or mini-gym. I started with my beloved Peloton, but have always trained with weights and resistance, so have gradually added on to my equipment stack. As I was just getting back into weightlifting, I initially started with the 6-lb and 8-lb dumbbells I have had for years. Now that I'm getting stronger, I knew I needed heavier weights. Space is a premium, so I didn't want to have weights that required a storage rack. Also, we just installed new wood floors, so I didn't want to risk scratching or scuffing the floors with traditional weight plates. These weights are perfect! They are constructed of a highly durable plastic that won't damage your floors. The system is so cool. It has a total of 30 pounds, which can be broken down into 15-lb dumbbells or with the included foam bar, can be made into a longer 30-lb barbell - so nifty! If you aren't ready for that much weight, you can break it down into much smaller increments. I love the versatility of this set. It's also very easy to assemble and dismantle. The end collars are easy to just screw down and tighten like you would a bolt. I'm so happy now that with the addition of these weight plates, my home gym is complete! ... show more

Molded plastic covering weights feels solid and not likely to easily tear or chip off. Solid core: no shifting sand inside. I received 4x2.75 lb weights and 4 x 4.5 lb weights. = 30 lbs, total. This is a good starter set for me. Dumbbell handles are cushioned and comfortable. Dumbbell bars can be attached to a central bar to convert to a comfortable barbell variety of weights. Weights, by themselves, are textured and shaped for easy individual handling in different fitness workouts. Only 2 items on my pet peeve list. 1. Weights have small lightly embossed weight values (lbs on one side, kg on the other) which are very difficult to easily read. Embossed numerals in black plastic do not show up well. Several family members commented on this. 2. Connecting 'nuts' which screw on bars to keep weights from sliding off are pretty finicky to get started on screw threads. Kind of a pain. Wish they had designed threads larger to make quicker (blind) mounting and unmounting of weights. Recommended. Would have been nicer with the 2 modifications listed just above. ... show more

It has been a long time since I last lifted any type of weights. I was hoping to get back in shape and decided to give these adjustable dumbbells a try. The ability to switch up the exercises was an added bonus. The weights themselves are made of good material and are true to the listed weight. The padding on the bar is soft and easy on the hands as well as the back. The translation of the instructions could use a good bit of work. However, the assembly is self explanatory. This set comes with 4x 2.75lbs weights and 4x 4.5lbs. That is 11 + 18 = 29 pounds total. The handles and connectors are decent. There's a plastic with a bottlecap-type end that adjusts how deeply it can twist onto the threaded handle end. Make it loose if you're using less dumbbells and tight if you're using more to keep the weights from sliding. Then there's the barbell adapter that does hold the handles well, though screwing in bars with weights on the inner-end could be a smoother process. It's sufficient enough here. Everything feels like the build quality is solid. The only issue is the odd weights that come in uneven pounds (they also have KG on them which is probably part of the reason why - intended for global/universal audiences so metric sizing). If you don't mind fractional weighting then this is a good set with plenty of flexibility. ... show more

In the box you get four 2.75lb weights, four 4.5lb. weights, two dumbbell bars, a barbell bar extension, and 4 collars. For the most part, as disclosed on this page, this weight set is made of plastic. According to that description, the barbell bar extension has some metal in it. I do see a sleeve inside that may be metal. That said, they appear to be reasonably sturdy. The dumbbell bars have a textured rubber-like material in the center for a good grip. The outside of the barbell bar extension is covered with a thick layer of high-density foam. I like that you can combine the dumbbells bars with the barbell extension for bench pressing, etc. When all three are combined, the bar is about 34 3/4” long. I think this is a good beginner’s weight set for the occasional and/or casual weight lifter. ... show more

For just north of $40, this set is a steal. As a beginner, the cost of dumbbells is stupid expensive. Especially when you don't know what weights you should use for what exercise, the cost just doesn't make sense.
